Loyola-Maryland (13-10) at Niagara (13-7)

GAME NOTES: The red-hot Loyola-Maryland Greyhounds will take on the Niagara Purple Eagles this evening in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference battle at the Gallagher Center. These two teams were slated to collide this past Friday, but due to inclement weather the game was postponed and was moved to this evening. The Greyhounds storm into this matchup riding a six-game winning streak. The last time Loyola was on the court the team posted a solid, 74-62 victory over Canisius. The recent streak has pushed the Greyhounds' league record to a solid 8-3 on the year. As for the Purple Eagles, they have dropped three of their last five games, including a tough, 76-72 setback to Fairfield this past Sunday. It was just the second loss at home for Niagara, which is now 13-7 on the season. The current skid has dropped Niagara's conference mark to just 7-4, which is only good enough for fifth place in the MAAC. In terms of the all-time series between the two schools, the Purple Eagles have a solid, 26-14 edge over Loyola-Maryland. The Greyhounds have not been overwhelming offensively this season, however the team is still boasting a winning mark up to this point. Loyola is currently netting 70.3 ppg, while shooting 42.5 percent from the floor. Gerald Brown is pacing the team with 17.9 ppg and is also grabbing 5.0 rpg, while leading the squad with 43 steals. Marquis Sullivan is contributing 12.1 ppg for the Greyhounds, while Michael Tuck has been the main source of production in the paint, netting 11.5 ppg to go along with 7.1 rpg. The last time the Greyhounds were on the court the team grabbed a 12-point win over Canisius. In the victory, the Greyhounds shot 51.9 percent from the floor and overcame 17 turnovers. Tuck led the way with 20 points, while Brown added 18 points and Sullivan chipped in 15.

As for the Eagles, they have soared offensively this season, and head into this matchup netting 75.7 ppg, despite shooting only 39.2 percent from the floor. Charron Fisher has been the main scoring threat for Niagara, and is currently one of the top performers in the nation. Fisher is posting 26.5 ppg, which is good enough for second best in the nation. The forward is also pacing his team with 9.0 rpg. Tyrone Lewis is only shooting 38.7 percent from the floor, but the guard is contributing 16.1 ppg on the year. Stanley Hodge has run the show on the court, netting 12.2 ppg, while also leading the team with 3.6 apg. This past Sunday the Purple Eagles had their wings clipped by Fairfield. Niagara shot just 40.4 percent in the four-point loss and made only 4-of-22 shots from behind the arc. Hodge led the way with 21 points, while Fisher added 18 points, despite shooting just 5-of-20 from the floor. Benson Egemonye contributed 14 points off the bench, while Lewis chipped in 11 points.

The Greyhounds have been terrific over the past few weeks, but their recent run of success should come to an end this evening. Niagara will likely rebound from its recent loss at home and move its league mark to 8-4.
