Kentucky (9-9) at Georgia (11-7)

GAME NOTES: The Kentucky Wildcats and Georgia Bulldogs will collide in a nationally televised SEC game this afternoon. Kentucky figures to enter with plenty of confidence, as the club has won its last two games to improve to 9-9 overall and 3-2 in conference action. The Wildcats have been idle since last Saturday when they posted a 78-70 decision over South Carolina. Still, they are 0-4 in true road games. Ironically, Georgia's most recent outing also came against South Carolina, as the Bulldogs dropped a 62-56 decision to the Gamecocks on Wednesday. The loss dropped the team to 11-7 overall and 2-3 in league play, but it does own a 10-0 home record this season. Kentucky owns a commanding 107-22 series lead over Georgia, but the teams split a pair of meetings a year ago.

Ramel Bradley poured in 26 points and 10 rebounds for Kentucky to lead the way in the win over South Carolina last Saturday. Patrick Patterson added 22 points and nine rebounds, and both of those standouts played all 40 minutes in the contest. Jodie Meeks netted 13 points for the Wildcats, and Perry Stevenson contributed 12 points. Kentucky connected on 50 percent of its field goal attempts in the clash, including an 8-of-13 effort from three-point range, and a 37-28 rebounding advantage certainly helped the cause. Kentucky also outscored South Carolina 18-2 from the foul line. Patterson, although just a freshman, is posting 17.1 ppg on 58.8 percent shooting from the field, and he is pulling down 8.1 rpg as well. Bradley adds 16.7 ppg to the mix, and Joe Crawford is contributing 16.0 ppg. Unfortunately, Crawford missed the South Carolina game and is questionable for this matchup because of a foot injury.

Terrance Woodbury scored 15 points for Georgia against South Carolina on Wednesday, and he also pulled down nine boards. Unfortunately, that effort was not strong enough to avoid defeat. The Bulldogs also got 12 points and eight rebounds from Dave Bliss in the setback. Poor shooting led to the loss, as Georgia connected on only 36.9 percent of its field goal attempts, including a 4-of-27 effort from three-point range. Billy Humphrey and Sundiata Gaines were held in check by the Gamecocks, but those two players are still netting 13.6 ppg and 12.9 ppg, respectively, to lead the team. Gaines is a truly versatile performer who is pulling down 5.8 rpg to go along with 4.2 apg from his guard position.

Give the edge to Kentucky today, as it has finally played up to potential the last two times out. With Bradley and Patterson in the fold, the Wildcats possesses one of the best duos in the SEC.
