Virginia (11-7) at Maryland (12-8)

GAME NOTES: The Virginia Cavaliers and the Maryland Terrapins are set to collide in an ACC showdown from College Park. Virginia played host to Georgia Tech on Sunday, and the result of that clash was a heart-breaking 92-82 loss to the Yellow Jackets. The Cavaliers are just 1-4 in conference play, clearly overshadowing the 11-7 overall record. They enter tonight's clash with a 2-3 mark in true road games. As for Maryland, it carried a two-game win streak into Sunday's home game against Duke, but the result of that clash was a 93-84 defeat. The Terps are just 2-3 in ACC action, but they are 12-8 overall and 10-4 in home games. Maryland owns a 101-65 series lead over Virginia, but the Cavs won both meetings last season.

Five players scored in double figures for Virginia in the overtime loss to Georgia Tech on Sunday, but the Cavaliers shot just 37.2 percent from the floor in the clash, including a 12-of-36 showing from three-point range. They also missed eight of their 20 free throws and permitted the Yellow Jackets to connect on 50.8 percent of their field goal attempts. Mamadi Diane and Calvin baker both managed 16 points in the setback, while Adrian Joseph and Jamil Tucker added 13 points apiece. Standout guard Sean Singletary finished with 11 points and eight assists, but he shot 5-of-19 from the floor, including 0-of-6 from behind the arc. Singletary is averaging 18.1 ppg and 6.7 apg, and while his shooting can be a bit erratic at times, he remains one of the most explosive performers in the conference. Joseph is contributing 12.5 ppg and 7.7 rpg this season, while Diane adds 12.4 ppg.

Versatile guard Greivis Vasquez leads Maryland in scoring (16.5 ppg), assists (6.3 apg) and steals (30), and he is also third on the roster with 5.3 rpg. James Gist is netting 15.4 ppg to go along with his team-high 7.8 rpg, and he has blocked 47 shots to date. Bambale Osby adds 11.5 ppg, 6.8 rpg and 39 blocks to the mix, while Eric Hayes is contributing 10.6 ppg and 5.4 apg. Maryland is scoring 72.7 ppg this season while limiting the opposition to 66.5 ppg on 37.1 percent shooting from the field. In the loss to Duke on Sunday, Gist scored 26 points, while Osby added 20 points and 15 rebounds. Vasquez had 15 points and seven assists for the Terps, who lost despite racking up 24 assists and shooting 54.4 percent from the field. Maryland turned the ball over 22 times and only forced 10 giveaways.

Virginia is the only ACC team with less than two league wins, as the Cavs sit alone in the league basement. Expect Maryland to take care of business at home tonight.
