(6) Georgetown (16-2) at St. John's (7-11)

GAME NOTES: The sixth-ranked Georgetown Hoyas are set to square off with the St. John's Red Storm in a Big East Conference showdown. Georgetown has won its last three games to improve to 16-2 overall and 6-1 in conference action. The last two wins have come by a total of three points, including a thrilling 58-57 decision over West Virginia on Saturday. The lone two losses for the Hoyas this season have come in true road games, and one of the two came at the hands of now top-ranked Memphis. St. John's is desperate for a victory, as the team has lost five games in a row and sits in a last place tie in the Big East standings. The Red Storm is coming off a 67-57 setback against Louisville on Saturday, but while the team is just 7-11 overall, six of the seven victories have come at home. St. John's owns a 50-38 all-time series lead over Georgetown, but the Hoyas have won the last three meetings.

With just 6.2 seconds remaining in regulation on Saturday, Jessie Sapp nailed a three-pointer to give Georgetown a one-point lead over West Virginia on the road. Then, Patrick Ewing Jr. blocked the game-winning shot attempt by the Mountaineers, preserving the thrilling victory for the Hoyas. Sapp finished the contest with 15 points, and Roy Hibbert tallied 12 points, 10 rebounds and four blocked shots. The Hoyas trailed by 10 points in the second half, so the fact that they were able to battle back is certainly impressive. Because of that effort, Georgetown sits alone atop the Big East standings. Hibbert, who is more steady than dominant, continues to pace the team with 13.1 ppg and 6.8 rpg. DaJuam Summers adds 10.8 ppg, and Jonathan Wallace checks in with 10.2 ppg. The fourth and final double-digit scorer is Austin Freeman with his 10.0 ppg.

The top scorer for St. John's this season is Anthony Mason Jr., who is netting 14.7 ppg. The only other double-digit scorer in the lineup is Justin Burrell, who is contributing 11.9 ppg to go along with his team-high 7.1 rpg. The Red Storm is only being outscored by 1.0 ppg overall this season, but the differential has been much greater since the start of league play. Mason Jr. was nothing short of sensational in the loss to Louisville on Saturday, as he nailed 7-of-11 three-pointers and finished with 29 points and nine rebounds. Unfortunately, the rest of the team combined for only 28 points. The Red Storm connected on a mere 32.1 percent of their field goal attempts en route to yet another defeat.

Expect Georgetown to pull away in the second half for a double-digit victory. The Hoyas are simply more talented than the Red Storm and will make that clear from the outset.
