Western Michigan (10-9) at Buffalo (6-12)

GAME NOTES: Still searching for their first league win of the season, the Buffalo Bulls will host the Western Michigan Broncos this evening in a Mid- American Conference tilt at Alumni Arena. The Broncos had a three-game win streak snapped this past Sunday, as the squad fell to Kent State, 67-58. The loss dropped Western Michigan to 4-2 in league action, and also left the team with a meager 3-7 mark on the road. As for the Bulls, they have been dreadful, and come into this game with a seven-game losing skid. The most recent setback was a rough, 76-63 loss to Toledo on Saturday. It was the sixth consecutive league setback for Buffalo, which is still winless in MAC play. Although Buffalo is just 6-12 on the season, four of those victories have come at home. The Broncos snapped a three-game losing skid against Buffalo with a convincing, 85-64 victory over the Bulls last season. With the victory, WMU now holds an 8-4 edge in the all-time series.

The Broncos have had some issues offensively this season, and come into this matchup averaging just 69.6 ppg, while shooting a mediocre 43.1 percent from the field. Joe Reitz has been sensational for WMU, as the center is netting 14.5 ppg, while also leading the team with 7.5 rpg. David Kool has done a tremendous job from behind the arc, shooting 41.3 percent from long range, which has led to 14.2 ppg. Unfortunately, the Broncos were atrocious the last time they were on the floor, as the team fell to Kent State, 67-58. In the loss, the Broncos only shot 36.5 percent from the floor and also committed 16 turnovers. Kool led the way with 21 points, while Shawntes Gary added 14 points to go along with eight rebounds. As for Reitz, he tallied 13 points and pulled down seven boards, but the center also committed six turnovers.

As for Buffalo, this team has been extremely weak offensively, averaging only 67.8 ppg, while shooting a mere 39.9 percent from the field. Andy Robinson is the only player producing double figures, as the guard is netting 10.7 ppg. Sean Smiley is second on the team with 9.9 ppg, but he is shooting 32.6 percent from the floor. The last time Buffalo was on the court, the team suffered a 13- point loss to Toledo. The Bulls shot only 38.7 percent from the floor and made just 8-of-21 attempts from behind the arc. Smiley led the way with 21 points, while Robinson chipped in 14 points. Calvin Betts contributed a double-double with 12 points and 11 boards in the loss.

Although the Bulls are home, the team will have a tough task against Reitz and the Broncos. Western Michigan should win, but it will definitely be a close matchup throughout.
