Miami-Florida (15-4) at Wake Forest (12-6)

GAME NOTES: The Wake Forest Demon Deacons will try to stretch their home winning streak to 16 games tonight, as they host the Miami-Florida Hurricanes in ACC play at Lawrence Joel Coliseum. The Deacons come into the game well rested, as they were last in play in an 80-75 overtime setback at Clemson on January 22nd. It was the third loss in the past four games by Wake, which fell to 12-6 overall and 2-3 in conference play. The Deacons though, now return back home, where they have won 15 straight games dating back to last season. As for Miami, it finally got back on track on Sunday, posting a 75-72 victory over Clemson. The win put a stop to a season-long three-game slide and improved the squad to 15-4 overall and 2-3 in league play. The Hurricanes though, have yet to defeat an ACC foe on the road, going 0-2. Tonight's bout marks the eighth all-time meeting between Miami and Wake Forest, with the Deacons winning all but one of previous seven encounters.

The Hurricanes dominated the boards, 53-37, and that helped compensate for a dismal 33.3 percent shooting performance from the field in a three-point win over Clemson this past weekend. The team also made the most of its opportunities at the foul line, converting on 25-of-29 attempts. Dwayne Collins led the charge with a double-double of 18 points and 12 rebounds, while Jack McClinton had 16 points. For the season, McClinton leads Miami in scoring at 16.1 ppg and he is handing out a team-high 3.1 apg and shooting 45.3 percent from three-point range. James Dews chips in with 11.2 ppg and he is also dangerous from beyond the arc, hitting on 40.6 percent of his attempts. As a team, the Hurricanes are connecting on 39.3 percent of their shots from downtown and that has led them to a scoring average of 76.9 ppg.

The Deacons are producing 71.4 ppg this season and that is due in large part to their ability to score points off turnovers, as they are forcing their opponents into 19.3 miscues per game. James Johnson tops the roster in both scoring (15.1 ppg) and rebounding (8.3 rpg) and he also has 30 steals to his credit. Jeff Teague is the team's top defender with 44 steals on his resume and he also chips in with 10.8 ppg. L.D. Williams adds 10.1 ppg and 4.3 rpg to the rotation, but he has a fractured right hand and is out for tonight's game. In the team's last contest, Wake made just 4-of-18 attempts from long distance and only 7-of-15 at the charity stripe, as it was outlasted by Clemson in overtime. The team forced Clemson into 20 turnovers, but it committed 22 miscues itself. Ishmael Smith guided Wake in the setback with 19 points and seven assists, while Johnson logged 14 points and five boards. The two however, combined for 14 of the team's turnovers.

Wake Forest has been extremely difficult to beat at home this season, and although it is short-handed, it still should have enough to prevail in this one.
