Boise State (14-5) at Fresno State (10-10)

GAME NOTES: The Fresno State Bulldogs shoot for back-to-back wins for the first time since before Christmas when they tangle with the Boise State Broncos in Western Athletic Conference action at the Save Mart Center tonight. On Saturday, the Bulldogs snapped a two-game slide with a 75-58 victory over visiting San Jose State. The win evened the team's league record at 3-3 and also its overall mark at 10-10. As for the Broncos, they scored 95 points for the second straight outing last Thursday night when they took care of the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors at home by 15 points. The win was the third in the last four games for BSU, now 5-2 in conference and 7-2 on the road. The Bulldogs are an impressive 8-2 at home over the years against Boise State and have won 12 of the 21 meetings overall, but it was the Broncos who took two of the three decisions a season ago.

Boise State pounded the Warriors last week, shooting close to 58 percent from the field in the first half and 14-of-22 behind the three-point line overall in the double-digit victory for the home team. Matt Bauscher knocked down all five of his three-point tries and finished with a team-best 21 points to go along with eight assists, while Matt Nelson posted a double-double with 18 points and 12 boards. Tyler Tiedeman chipped in 17 points to help offset an awful performance by Reggie Larry who finished with just six points as he missed all seven of his field goal attempts. Despite the poor showing, Larry is still the team leader in both scoring (18.3 ppg) and rebounding (9.1 rpg) and is shooting a surprising 45.8 percent from three-point range. Nelson accounts for 15.9 ppg on a stellar 66.7 percent shooting from the floor which makes him one of the top shooters in all of college basketball. As a unit, Boise State is making 52 percent from the field, en route to a lofty 83 ppg.

The Bulldogs held a modest five-point lead at the break on Saturday night over San Jose State, but thanks to 55.2 percent shooting from the field in the closing period the hosts cruised to the 17-point win. Eddie Miller tallied a team-best 27 points on 7-of-14 shooting from three-point range, while Kevin Bell contributed 15 points and accounted for half of the unit's 16 assists, followed by Nedeljko Golubovic who scored 14 points despite making only 1-of-7 chances beyond the arc on the night. Miller's 27 point-effort matched the program high for the season that he set back on January 12th versus Idaho, yet he is still second on the team with 13.8 ppg. Miller has bumped his perimeter accuracy up to 41.2 percent, while Bell (17.3 ppg) is responsible for getting everyone else involved with his 119 assists over the course of 20 games. Hector Hernandez, who came off the bench for the very first time over the weekend, not only posts 10.2 ppg, but he is also the top man on the glass for the Bulldogs with close to seven boards per game.

The fact that the Broncos blew out Hawaii last week even with Larry struggling from the field means Boise State is a team to be reckoned with from here on out.
