UL-Lafayette (8-11) at Troy (9-10)

GAME NOTES: Sun Belt Conference action will take place this afternoon, as the Troy Trojans host the UL-Lafayette Ragin' Cajuns at Trojan Arena. The Cajuns have struggled over the past couple of weeks, losing four of their last five games, including two in a row. The most recent setback was a tough, 66-60 loss to South Alabama this past Thursday. The sudden slide has dropped ULL with an even 4-4 mark in league play, and also left the team with a terrible 2-7 mark in road matchups. As for the Trojans, they ave also lost four of their last five games, including a heartbreaking, 63-61 setback to Arkansas-Little Rock earlier this week. The loss dropped Troy to a pathetic 2-6 ledger in Sun Belt Conference action. Although Troy is just 9-10 overall on the year, the team is a solid 7-3 at the Trojan Arena. Last season the Cajuns evened the all-time series at two games apiece, as they defeated Troy, 69-62.

Offense is not the strong point for the Cajuns this year, as the team is averaging just 66.0 ppg, while shooting a mere 41.0 percent from the floor. Elijah Millsap is the only player producing double-figures for ULL, as the guard is netting 10.1 ppg to go along with 5.6 rpg. However, Millsap's ball- handling skills have come in question, as the sophomore have committed a team- high 64 turnovers on the year. This past Thursday, the Cajuns continued to struggle offensively, scoring just 60 points in a loss to South Alabama. In the six-point setback, the Cajuns shot 45.8 percent, but made only 5-of-18 attempts from behind the arc. Chris Gradnigo was the only player with double- digits, as the guard tallied 19 points off the bench. As for Millsap, he chipped in only seven points.

The Trojans were not very effective the last time they took the court, as the team fell to Arkansas-Little Rock, 63-61. Troy shot 45.1 percent from the field in the contest, but made only 7-of-15 shots from the foul line. Troy also committed a whopping 19 turnovers in the loss. It was a shocking performance by Troy, which is currently averaging 80.4 ppg. O'Darien Bassett led the way with 14 points in the loss, while Jerome Odem and Justin Jonus both contributed 13 points apiece. Bassett has been the top scoring option throughout the season, as the guard is netting 19.1 ppg. The only other player posting double-figures is Jonus, who is chipping in 13.3 ppg.

The Trojans should be much more effective at the offensive end of the court in this matchup. The Cajuns have been inconsistent this season, especially on the road and that trend should continue.
