Northern Illinois (5-12) at Bowling Green (8-9)

GAME NOTES: Mid-American Conference action will take place this afternoon, as the Bowling Green Falcons host the Northern Illinois Huskies at Anderson Arena. The Huskies snapped a small two-game losing skid the last time they were on the floor, defeating Ball State, 60-58. Despite the victory the Huskies are still just 2-3 in league action and just 5-12 overall on the season. Where the team really has struggled is on the road, as NIU has lost all eight of its games outside of DeKalb. As for the Falcons, they have won three of their last five contests, including a hard-fought, 55-52 win over Miami-Ohio this past Wednesday. The win over the RedHawks pushed the Falcons' league ledger to 3-2, and also boosted the squad's home record to 5-3 on the season. This past February the Huskies pounded BGSU, winning 73-51. With the victory, Northern Illinois pushed its all-time series lead over the Falcons to 25-23.

The Huskies have struggled throughout most of the season at the offensive end of the floor and head into this matchup netting just 65.9 ppg, while shooting a mere 41.3 percent from the floor. Currently only Jarvis Nichols is posting double figures for the Huskies, as the guard is averaging 10.3 ppg, despite shooting below 40.0 percent. The last time Northern Illinois was on the floor the team only scored 60 points, but it was just enough to slip past Ball State by a two-point margin. The Huskies shot a mediocre 42.2 percent in the win and dominated the battle on the glass, 40-26. In the victory, Shaun Logan led the way with 19 points and also pulled down nine rebounds. Nichols added 16 points, while Egan Grafel posted a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.

Much like their counterpart, the Falcons have put forth an inconsistent effort offensively, as the team is netting just 63.7 ppg, while shooting 43.7 percent from the field. Nate Miller and Chris Knight are the top two options for BGSU, and are the only two players posting double figures on the season. Miller is netting 13.1 ppg on the year and is also collecting 5.7 rpg. As for Knight, he is chipping in 11.7 ppg, while also pulling down a team-high 7.2 rpg. The Falcons posted only 55 points this past Wednesday, but it was all the team needed to get past Miami-Ohio by a three-point margin. Miller and Darryl Clements posted 15 points apiece in the win, while Knight tallied 11 points to go along with nine boards.

Neither team has been overwhelming offensively, so expect a low-scoring affair. The Falcons do have homecourt advantage, which will likely give them a slight edge.
