Youngstown State (7-12) at Wisconsin-Green Bay (10-8)

GAME NOTES: Horizon League action will take place today at the Resch Center, as the Wisconsin-Green Bay Phoenix will host the Youngstown State Penguins. YSU has struggled over the past few weeks, losing five of its last six games, including three in a row. The last time the Penguins were on the floor the team suffered a tough, 76-69 setback to UW-Milwaukee. The loss dropped YSU to 3-6 in league action and also left the team with a meager 2-7 mark in road contests. As for the Phoenix, they snapped a three-game losing skid with a thrilling, 59-50 victory over the Cleveland State Vikings. With the victory, UWGB is now an even 4-4 in conference play, and also pushed its home mark to a solid 7-1 on the season. The Phoenix have won eight of the last nine meetings against YSU, and now have a commanding 16-4 edge over the Penguins in the all- time series.

The Penguins have struggled for the most part this season on offense, as the team is averaging just 65.2 ppg, while shooting a mediocre 42.7 percent. Byron Davis has been one of the few bright spots for this squad, and comes into this game netting 15.1 ppg to go along with 56 assists. John Barber has been the main source of production in the paint, as the forward is posting 14.1 ppg to go along with a team-best 7.0 rpg. Jack Liles rounds out the double-figures scorers with 10.7 ppg on the year. The Penguins shot 47.3 percent in their last contest and scored 69 points, however it was not enough as the team eventually fell to UW-Milwaukee by a seven-point margin. Davis led the way in the loss with 22 points, while Barber posted a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds.

As for the Phoenix, they have been mediocre at the offensive end of the floor this year, and come into this game netting 70.3 ppg. Mike Schachtner and Ryan Tillema have been the top two scoring options on the season. Schachtner is currently leading the way with 17.5 ppg, and is shooting an outstanding 49.1 percent from behind the arc. As for Tillema, he is contributing 11.8 ppg for the Phoenix. The last time Green Bay was on the court, the team only scored 59 points, but that was more than enough to defeat the Cleveland State Vikings, who before this setback were unbeaten in league action. In the thrilling win, the Phoenix were led by Terry Evans, who scored 16 points to go along with eight rebounds. Rahmon Fletcher and Tevah Morris tallied 11 points apiece, while Tillema chipped in 10 points. As for Schachtner, he only posted five points, but did collect 10 rebounds.

The Phoenix come into this matchup with plenty of momentum and they should continue to fly high right past a struggling YSU squad.
