Davidson (11-6) at The Citadel (5-12)

GAME NOTES: The best of the Southern Conference will tangle with the worst, as the Davidson Wildcats will try to remain perfect in league action when they clash with the Citadel Bulldogs at McAlister Field House. The Wildcats are currently 9-0 in the South Division of the SoCon, while the Bulldogs are winless in eight tries. The ninth league victory for the Wildcats came this past Monday, as the team dismantled Western Carolina, 82-67. It was the seventh consecutive win for the Wildcats, and it also pushed the team's road record to 5-3 on the year. As for the Bulldogs, they opened the year with a mediocre 5-6 ledger, but since then it has been all downhill for the Citadel, as the team has dropped its last six matchups. The last time the Bulldogs took the floor they suffered a tough, 80-76 setback to Wofford. The Citadel is only 5-12 on the year, but all five of those wins have come at home. Davidson hammered the Bulldogs earlier this season, winning by a whopping 96-74 margin. It was the 12 consecutive win for the Wildcats over the Citadel, as the team now leads the all-time series, 87-43.

The heart and soul of this Davidson squad is standout guard Stephen Curry. Curry is without question the top player in the SoCon, and is currently averaging 24.1 ppg, and 4.5 rpg. The sophomore can hurt an opponent from inside or outside the perimeter, which is evident by his 47.4 percent shooting effort from the field, and 40.2 percent clip from behind the arc. Point guard Jason Richards has benefited greatly from Curry, as the senior is netting 13.1 ppg, to go along with a nation's best 8.7 apg. Curry was at it again this past Monday against Western Carolina, as the guard shot 10-of-19 from the field, en route to a 29-point performance. Richards added 18 points and eight assists for Davidson, which defeated the Catamounts by a 15-point margin.

The Bulldogs could be in trouble this evening, especially when considering how poorly the team has played defensively. The Citadel is currently surrendering 76.1 ppg, and is allowing opponents to shoot a whopping 50.1 percent from the field. The woeful defensive effort continued this past weekend, as the Bulldogs surrendered 80 points in a loss to Wofford. On top of the terrible defensive performance, the Bulldogs have also struggled with consistency efforts on offense. The Citadel is producing 66.1 ppg, while being led by Cameron Wells, who is posting 13.5 ppg to go along with a team-best 60 assists. Austin Dahn and Zach Urbanus are both shooting well below 40.0 percent on the season, but both players head into this matchup averaging 10.5 and 10.1 ppg, respectively.

The Bulldogs will need much more then just homecourt advantage to grab a win this evening, The Wildcats are playing exceptionally well and are just flat out better than the Citadel.
