Central Michigan (7-9) at Western Michigan (9-8)

GAME NOTES: The Western Michigan Broncos will try to remain in the win column when they host the Central Michigan Chippewas this evening at University Arena. The Chippewas snapped a small two-game losing skid with a convincing, 77-63 victory over the Northern Illinois Huskies this past Saturday. With the win, CMU is now an even 2-2 in MAC action. The Chippewas have been dreadful on the road this season, as seven of the team's nine losses have come away from home. As for the Broncos, they have won four of their last five games, including two in a row. The last time WMU was on the court, the team grabbed a strong, 75-62 victory over Toledo. With the win, the Broncos are now 3-1 in league play and an even better 5-1 at University Arena. The Broncos have won six of the last eight meetings against CMU, and hold a commanding 75-42 advantage over the Chippewas in the all-time series.

The Chippewas overcame 18 turnovers to collect a 77-63 victory over Northern Illinois this past weekend. CMU shot just 41.3 percent from the field, but made 31-of-41 attempts from the foul line. Giordan Watson was outstanding in the win, scoring 29 points to lead the way for CMU. Chris Kellermann was the only other player on the floor for the Chippewas to post double figures, as the big man tallied 14 points. Throughout the season the Chippewas have had to lean heavily on the play of Watson, and for the most part the guard has delivered. In 16 games thus far, Watson is averaging 17.1 ppg and is also pacing the team with 70 assists and 30 steals. As a whole, the Chippewas have been mediocre offensively, averaging 72.0 ppg, while shooting 45.7 percent from the field.

The Broncos have not been overwhelming offensively, but the team has played well enough to post a 9-8 ledger up to this point. Heading into this matchup, WMU is averaging 70.2 ppg, while shooting 43.4 percent from the floor. Joe Reitz has been outstanding in the paint for the Broncos, as the center is netting 14.5 ppg, while also collecting a team-best 7.4 rpg. David Kool is extremely dangerous from behind the arc and is posting 13.6 ppg, while shooting a strong 41.2 percent from long range. In the recent 13-point win over Toledo, Western Michigan shot 44.9 percent from the field and made 23- of-32 attempts from the foul line. Reitz and Kool both scored 16 points apiece, while Reitz also grabbed nine boards. Shawntes Gary was the only other player in double figures, chipping in 10 points in the win.

It will be tough for the Broncos to contain Watson, but if the team can control the rest of the Chippewas expect WMU to continue its winning ways.
