Niagara (11-5) at Marist (11-7)

GAME NOTES: The Marist Red Foxes will try to remain perfect at home when they host the Niagara Purple Eagles this evening at the McCann Center. The Purple Eagles have struggled over the past week, losing two of their last three games, including a tough, 70-62 setback to Canisius on the road. The loss dropped the Purples Eagles' league mark to 5-2 and also left the team with a mediocre 4-4 ledger on the road. As for the Red Foxes, they had their five game winning streak snapped with a rough, 83-71 loss to Loyola-Maryland. The loss also dropped the Red Foxes' conference ledger to 5-2, putting them in a three-way tie with Niagara and Rider. Marist has done a tremendous job at the McCann Center, winning all six of its games in front of its home crowd. Niagara has won two of the last four meetings against Marist and now has a slim 12-8 edge over the Red Foxes in the all-time series.

The Purple Eagles have been very dangerous offensively, and a large part of the team's success is due to Charron Fisher, who is second in the nation in scoring. Fisher is currently posting 27.5 ppg on the season, but is also leading the team with 9.1 rpg. Despite shooting a meager 36.1 percent from the field on the season, Tyrone Lewis is averaging 14.6 ppg in support. Stanley Hodge has put forth an all-around solid effort throughout the season, as the guard is posting 12.7 ppg to go along with 5.8 rpg and 56 assists. The Purple Eagles had a tough outing in their last contest, falling to Canisius, 70-62. In the loss, Niagara shot just 36.2 percent from the field and made only 5-of-30 attempts from behind the arc. Fisher scored 21 points in the game, but was just 8-of-23 from the field. Lewis and Hodge chipped in 15 and 13 points, respectively.

Marist currently has a winning ledger on the season and has been decent at the offensive end, averaging just 69.8 ppg, while shooting 45.8 percent from the field. Jay Gavin has yet to start a game this season, but the guard is still leading the team with 13.4 ppg. Louie McCroskey is the only other player posting double figures, and heads into this game netting 12.4 ppg to go along with 5.6 rpg. The Red Foxes fell victim to the Greyhounds of Loyola this past Thursday, as Marist dropped a 12-point decision. The Red Foxes shot 45.8 percent from the floor but made just 9-of-26 three-point attempts and committed 16 turnovers in the loss. Gavin scored 20 points off the bench for Marist, while Ryan Stilphen added 13 points to go along with seven rebounds.

The Red Foxes are currently undefeated at home, but this will surely be the team's toughest task to date. If Marist struggles to contain Fisher, then it's anyone's ball game.
