Wofford (8-7) at College of Charleston (8-8)

GAME NOTES: Sitting at .500 in conference play, the College of Charleston Cougars host the Wofford Terriers in a Southern Conference tilt at John Kresse Arena. The offense has let Wofford down the past two games, scoring just 99 points combined in consecutive defeats. After a gut-wrenching 52-49 defeat at home against Appalachian State, the Terriers were thwarted by Davidson, 85-50 over the weekend. Tonight begins a three-game stretch on the road where the squad has won just once in five attempts. The College of Charleston meanwhile, has experienced a roller coaster ride of a season. The Cougars have lived through three-game losing and winning streaks and split their last four outings. After blowing an eight-point second half lead in a 96-90 overtime loss to Georgia Southern, the Cougars bounced back and dominated The Citadel, 69-46 on the road. Charleston has tallied four straight wins over Wofford, but still trails the all-time series, 66-45.

With the offense not pulling their weight, the Terriers' defense has carried the squad to their mediocre 8-7 record. Wofford leads the conference in scoring defense, as opponents are averaging just 63.1 ppg. The one thing the Terriers can do well on the offensive end is shoot the three. They are hitting a precise 42.3 percent from behind the arc, as three players have netted at least 20 trifectas. Shane Nichols and Junior Salters top the squad with 34 three- pointers apiece, with Nichols pacing the team at 15.8 ppg. He was the only Terrier in double figures against Davidson, finishing with 14 points. The maestro of the offense, Drew Gibson, has dished out 4.9 apg while chipping in 10.1 ppg.

The College of Charleston jumped out to a 32-9 halftime lead in its victory over The Citadel its last time on the court. The defensive pressure the Cougars implemented was very atypical, as opponents are averaging 76.7 points against them. While the defense has struggled, the offense poses a ton of talent, led by Tony White Jr.'s 14.2 ppg. Jermaine Johnson, who posted a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds against The Citadel, averages 12.6 points and 8.7 rebounds per game. He's joined in the post by Dustin Scott and his 10.7-point, 6.7 rebound average output. The difference maker has been sixth man Andrew Goudelock. In coming off the bench all season, Goudelock is second on the team with 12.7 ppg and paced the squad with 13 points its last time on the court.

One of the best offenses in the SoCon matches up with one of the best defenses. In a true test of conflicting styles, the home team gets the nod, as the Cougars have played better overall during the past few weeks.
