Wake Forest (11-4) at Maryland (10-7)

GAME NOTES: The Maryland Terrapins will take another crack at trying to notch their first ACC win of the season, as they entertain the Wake Forest Demon Deacons at the Comcast Center tonight. The Terps are coming off a tough loss, as they dropped a 67-66 decision at Virginia Tech on Saturday. The setback brought the team's four-game win streak to an end, as it fell to 10-7 overall and 0-2 in conference play. Maryland though, now returns back to the Comcast Center, where it has posted a 9-3 ledger thus far. As for Wake, it enters the tilt fresh off its worse loss of the season, a 112-73 setback at Boston College on Saturday. The outcome snapped the team's six-game win streak and marked its most lopsided loss since dropping a 130-89 decision to NC State in 1983. It was also the seventh straight ACC road loss for the Deacons, who slipped to 11-4 overall and 1-1 in conference play. With regard to the all-time series, Maryland holds a 59-54 lead and it has won three of the past four encounters.

The Demon Deacons lacked any sort of defense on Saturday, allowing Boston College to shoot a blistering 66.1 percent from the floor, including a 13-of-19 effort from long distance, in a blowout loss. Wake itself, went just 4-of-17 from three-point range and it also turned the ball over 16 times, which resulted in 25 points for Boston College. James Johnson guided the team in the setback with 22 points and eight boards, while Jeff Teague had 10 points and four assists. For the season, Johnson is the top scorer (14.5 ppg) and rebounder (8.5 rpg) and he also has 26 steals to his name. Teague chips in with 10.9 ppg, while L.D. Williams adds 10.1 ppg and 4.5 rpg to the mix. Overall, the Demon Deacons are producing 71.5 ppg this season and they have also had success forcing opposing teams into mistakes, generating 19.7 turnovers per game.

Jeff Allen sank a free throw with 12.4 seconds left to give Virginia Tech a 67-66 lead. Greivis Vasquez' game-winning three-point attempt in the closing moments was off the mark, as Maryland dropped a heart-breaker. The Terps struggled from long range (2-of-12) all game long and they also committed 17 costly turnovers. James Gist paced the squad in defeat with 16 points and seven rebounds, while Bambale Osby notched a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds. Vasquez reached double-figures with 10 points, but he missed all seven of his three-point attempts and also accounted for six turnovers. Despite the sub par effort, Vasquez has still enjoyed a solid campaign and he leads Maryland in scoring (16.2 ppg), assists (5.9 apg) and steals (25). Gist has provided the club with a target in the paint and he turns in 14.7 ppg and a team-best 7.6 rpg. Eric Hayes contributes 11.0 ppg and 5.4 apg for the Terps, but he is listed as questionable for tonight's game with a sprained left ankle. Osby puts forth 10.6 ppg and 6.2 rpg for Maryland, which is scoring 71.5 ppg and holding its foes to 64.3 ppg this season.

The Terps have the luxury of playing this game at home and with the support of their fans they should be able to outlast a Wake Forest club that has struggled on the road.
