(21) Miami-Florida (14-1) at Boston College (11-4)

GAME NOTES: The Boston College Eagles bring their season-long eight-game homestand to a close tonight, as they host the 21st-ranked Miami-Florida Hurricanes in ACC play at the Conte Forum. The Eagles have played 12 of their first 15 games this season at home, where they have gone 9-3 thus far. The team is 4-3 on its current homestand and that includes a 112-73 trouncing of Wake Forest on Saturday. The 112 points established a new school record for the most points scored in a league affair (Big East or ACC), as BC brought its brief two-game slide to an end. The victory also improved the Eagles to 11-4 overall and it kept them perfect in league play at 2-0. As for Miami, it has matched the best start in program history by winning 14 of its first 15 outings. Since losing their only game of the season to Winthrop (76-70) on December 29th, the Hurricanes have run off two straight wins, including a 78-68 triumph over Georgia Tech on Saturday. It was the ACC opener for Miami, which improved to 9-0 at home in the process. Tonight's contest marks the 30th all-time meeting between the two programs, with BC holding a 21-8 advantage over Miami. Last season, the Eagles swept three meetings from the Hurricanes, including a 74-71 overtime victory in the ACC Tournament.

The Hurricanes have had success in many areas this season and that includes at the defensive end of the court, where they are holding their foes to just 60.8 ppg and a lackluster 37.8 percent shooting from the field. At the other end, Miami is scoring a solid 77.5 ppg on the strength of 40.9 percent shooting from three-point range. Jack McClinton tops the roster in both scoring (15.4 ppg) and assists (3.0 apg) and he is also knocking down 47.8 percent of his attempts from long distance. James Dews trails him with 11.9 ppg and he is hitting on 44.6 percent from three-point land, while Brian Asbury contributes 10.5 ppg and 5.3 rpg. In the team's last game, Dews poured in a career-high 20 points to lead Miami to a 78-68 win over Georgia Tech. McClinton tallied 14 points in the win, and Asbury logged 11 points and six boards. The Hurricanes, uncharacteristically, struggled from behind the arc (2-of-19), but they made up for it by converting an efficient 26-of-32 free-throw attempts.

The Eagles have also enjoyed a good deal of success on offense this season, as they are averaging 74.2 ppg on 47.1 percent shooting from the floor and 37.8 percent from long distance. Tyrese Rice is one of the most productive players in the ACC and he leads BC in scoring (19.9 ppg), assists (5.2 apg) and steals (24). Rakim Sanders adds 12.1 ppg and 4.7 rpg to the mix, while Shamari Spears turns in 11.3 ppg and a team-best 7.2 rpg. In the squad's prior outing, Rice matched his career-high with 32 points and he also put forth eight assists and six rebounds in leading the Eagles to an easy win over Wake Forest. Sanders and Spears combined for 22 points for BC, which shot a blistering 66.1 percent from the field. The Eagles also found a good amount of success from downtown (13-of-19), as well as the foul line (21-of-24).

BC is coming off its most impressive win of the season and it should be able to use that momentum and another big game from Rice to pull off the upset tonight.
