Saint Peter's (4-10) at Marist (9-6)

GAME NOTES: The Marist Red Foxes resume their three-game homestand tonight, as they entertain the Saint Peter's Peacocks in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play at the McCann Center. The Foxes kicked off their current home swing on Monday, defeating Manhattan 76-66 to remain perfect at the McCann Center at 4-0. It was the third straight win for Marist, which improved to 9-6 overall and 3-1 in conference play. The Foxes will wrap up their homestand against Fairfield on Sunday. As for SPC, it began a three-game road swing on Sunday by losing at Siena 79-56. The loss kept the Peacocks winless on the road at 0-8 and in the process dropped them to 4-10 overall and 1-3 in league play. Much like Marist, SPC will also be in play on Sunday, when it concludes its road trip at Iona. The Peacocks lead the all-time series with Marist, 17-8, but the Foxes won both meetings last season.

The Peacocks shot a lackluster 39.7 percent from the floor and they made just 3-of-8 free-throw attempts in a 79-56 loss at Siena on Sunday. The team also lacked any defense, allowing Siena to hit on 52.5 percent of its total shots. Raul Orta paced the team in defeat with 16 points, while Todd Sowell logged 10 points and nine boards. For the season, Sowell leads SPC in both scoring and rebounding, as he is one of the few players averaging a double-double with 12.9 ppg and 11.2 rpg. Wesley Jenkins nips at his heels with 12.6 ppg and Orta follows closely with 12.2 ppg on the strength of 47.7 percent shooting from three-point range. Nick Leon chips in with 10.1 ppg and he is also handing out a team-high 3.1 apg. As a team, the Peacocks are scoring 69.1 ppg behind 41.8 percent shooting from the field this season.

The Red Foxes sank 53.5 percent of their attempts from the floor and 10-of-22 from beyond the arc, as they posted a 76-66 win over Manhattan on Monday. The team though, did have some trouble putting the game away for good, converting only 20-of-37 free-throw tries. Jay Gavin connected on 6-of-8 shots from long distance and he finished with a career-high 23 points for Marist. Spongy Benjamin added 15 points and seven boards, while David Devezin chipped in with 11 points. Louie McCroskey had eight points in the win and he leads the Foxes in scoring this season with 13.0 ppg. He is also collecting 6.1 rpg and shooting 48.6 percent from three-point range. As a whole, Marist is knocking down 38.9 percent of his tries from long distance and that has helped it to average 68.2 ppg.

Marist is the pick here and with a solid performance from behind the arc, it should have no trouble getting past SPC tonight.
