Old Dominion (7-8) at Towson (5-8)

GAME NOTES: The Towson Tigers take on the Old Dominion Monarchs this evening in a Colonial Athletic Association battle at the Towson Center. The Monarchs have stumbled over the past couple of weeks, losing three of their last four games. The last time ODU was on the floor the team suffered a tough, 70-61 setback to William & Mary. After 15 games, the Monarchs are 7-8 on the season, but on the road the squad is a meager 1-4. Next up for ODU will be a road matchup against Delaware, followed by two straight games at home. As for the Tigers, they have dropped three of their last four games, including a tough, 72-63 setback to George Mason this past weekend. The Tigers have just five wins on the year, but four of those victories have come at the Towson Center. The Monarchs have completely dominated Towson over the years, winning 17 of the 18 matchups, including the last nine meetings.

In the team's eight losses this season, only once have the Monarchs scored over 65 points. Coming into tonight, ODU is posting a mere 63.9 ppg on the season, while shooting 41.8 percent from the field. Gerald Lee is the only player averaging double figures for the Monarchs, as the guard is netting 12.1 ppg. Brian Henderson is second on the team, but is chipping in just 8.9 ppg, mainly because he is shooting below 35.0 percent on the year. The offensive woes for ODU continued this past weekend, as the squad suffered a nine-point loss to William & Mary. In the setback, the Monarchs shot just 36.2 percent from the field and made only 6-of-26 attempts from long range. Ben Finney led the team with 17 points and eight boards in just 17 minutes of action off the bench. Darius James added 12 points, while Lee chipped in 11, despite shooting just 2- of-9 from the floor.

Towson has not put forth a tremendous effort offensively either, as the squad is netting 65.8 ppg, while shooting a mere 39.9 percent from the floor. If not for the play of Junior Hairston, the Tigers would actually be worse offensively. The forward comes into this matchup leading the team with 14.2 ppg and 11.7 rpg. On top of that, Hairston is also pacing the team squad with 27 blocks and 18 steals. Rodney Spruill is the only other player posting double figures for Towson, as the guard is netting 12.3 ppg, despite shooting 38.4 percent on the season. The last time Towson was on the floor the team suffered a nine-point loss to George Mason. In the setback, the Tigers shot 41.5 percent from the field and were led once again by Hairston, who tallied 22 points to go along with 11 rebounds. The team did receive a nice performance from Josh Thornton off the bench, as the guard posted 20 points, thanks in large part to a 6-of-12 clip from long range.

The Monarchs have had some issues offensively, but where the team has excelled is at the defensive end of the floor. Do not expect ODU to score many points, but definitely expect the team to limit Towson offensively.
