Brown (8-5) at Baylor (11-2)

GAME NOTES: A battle between Bears will take place this evening, as Baylor will host Brown in a non-conference contest at the Ferrell Center. Brown has surprisingly played well this season and comes into this contest with wins in three of its last four games. The Ivy League Bears are coming off back-to-back wins over Army (79-78) and American (68-55). Brown has even played well away from home, posting a 5-3 ledger in true road matchups. As for the Bears of the Big 12, they had a six-game winning streak snapped with a tough, 85-78 setback to Arkansas this past Saturday. Despite the loss, Baylor is still an impressive 11-2 on the year, marking the school's best start to a season since beginning 12-1 during the 2000-01 campaign. In terms of the all-time series between the two schools on the hardwood, this will be the first-ever meeting.

Brown has not been overwhelming offensively this year, but the team has done enough to open the season with an 8-5 mark. Entering this evening's contest the Bears are producing 68.2 ppg, while shooting a tad over 45.0 percent from the field. Damon Huffman has been the main scoring threat for Brown, and has been dangerous from behind the arc, netting 45.7 percent of his three-point attempts. His shooting ability has led to an impressive 16.2 ppg. Mark McAndrew is the only other player posting double figures, as the guard is posting 15.5 ppg to go along with 5.4 rpg. The last time Brown was on the floor the team grabbed a 13-point victory over American. In the win, the team was once again paced by Huffman, who poured in 29 points. As for McAndrew, he was held to just eight points in the win.

As for the Bears from Baylor, they have been lights out offensively, as the team is currently producing a whopping 81.4 ppg, while shooting a strong 48.2 percent from the field. Baylor has plenty of scoring options, as five players are averaging double figures. Leading the way for the Bears is Curtis Jerrells, who is netting 14.5 ppg, while also pacing the team with 47 assists. Kevin Rogers has been the best option down low for Baylor, as the big man is posting 11.9 ppg to go along with a team-best 6.6 rpg. LaceDarius Dunn has been a strong presence off the bench, as the guard is shooting 46.8 percent from long range, while averaging 11.8 ppg. Henry Dugat and Aaron Bruce head into this game chipping in 10.7 and 10.5 ppg, respectively. The last time Baylor was on the floor the team scored 78 points, but that wasn't enough, as the squad fell to Arkansas by a seven-point margin. Jerrells tallied 18 points in the loss, while Dugat posted 14 points. Rogers and Tweety Carter contributed 10 points apiece.

Brown has played well to start the year, but Baylor has far too much punch offensively to contend with and should be able to collect a victory in front of its home crowd.
