(3) Kansas (13-0) at Boston College (10-2)

GAME NOTES: The third-ranked Kansas Jayhawks travel to the New England area this weekend, as they take on the Boston College Eagles in non-conference action at the Conte Forum. The Jayhawks are one of just six unbeatens left in the country and moved to 13-0 on the year with last weekend's 86-53 pasting of Yale. Kansas is attempting to go 14-0 for the first time since the 2004-05 season. The Eagles will try to prevent that from happening and bring a solid 10-2 record into this contest. BC has been able to string together three straight wins since a three-point setback to rival UMass (83-80), including an 81-52 rout of Longwood on Wednesday. This series is knotted at 1-1. The Eagles won the first meeting in the 1969 Postseason NIT (78-62). Kansas tied things up with an 84-66 win last year in Lawrence.

Kansas has been one of the most dominant teams in the country this season thanks to stellar play at both ends of the court. The team has delivered on over 50 percent of its shots in 11 of its 13 games thus far and is among the national leaders with an impressive .524 shooting percentage. The result has been a hefty 83.5 ppg. Defensively, KU has been strong as well, limiting the opposition to just 58.4 ppg, on a miserly .382 shooting. In addition, Kansas has enjoyed a +5.2 rebounding advantage and is forcing 20.5 turnover per game. Five Jayhawks are currently averaging double figures, led by Darrell Arthur's 13.1 ppg. Darnell Jackson (11.5 ppg, team-high 6.5 rpg) helps out in the frontcourt, while the backcourt trio of Mario Chalmers (12.3 ppg, .481 from three-point range, 61 assists), Brandon Rush (10.8 ppg) and Sherron Collins (10.1 ppg) do the rest from the perimeter. The defense was on display last weekend, as Kansas held Yale to .370 shooting and forced the Bulldogs into a whopping 27 turnovers. Jackson hit 9-of-12 shots from the floor to pace the team with 20 points. Arthur and Chalmers added 11 points each, while Rush tallied 10. Point guard Russell Robinson had just four points in the game, but doled out five assists and recorded a career-high eight steals.

The Eagles certainly possess the personnel to win an up-tempo style of game. The team is shooting a healthy .462 from the floor this year, leading to 74.2 ppg. Everything BC does funnels through junior standout guard Tyrese Rice. Despite struggling a bit with his accuracy (.419 from the floor), Rice is still averaging nearly 20 points per game (19.7), all while dishing out at team-high 61 assists (5.5 per game). Frontcourt balance comes in the form of Shamari Spears (12.2 ppg, 7.5 rpg). Rakim Sanders adds 11.4 ppg, 5.1 rpg, while Corey Raji has been an asset off the bench, adding 10.3 ppg to the cause. Sanders and Raji along with Biko Paris comprise a freshman class that is contributing 38.5 percent of the scoring thus far. In the 29-point win over Longwood this week, Rice led four Eagles in double figures with 24 points. Sanders added 14 points, followed by Raji (11 pts) and Tyrelle Blair (10 pts). BC shot a sizzling .654 from the floor in the first half and finished the game at a .565 clip. The Eagles forced the Lancers into 16 turnovers, while committing just six miscues of their own.

The Eagles are always a dangerous team on their home floor, but Kansas is playing at a different level right now. Everything is clicking right now for the Jayhawks, which should lead to a solid road win here.
