Fordham (6-5) at (8) Georgetown (9-1)

GAME NOTES: The Fordham Rams of the Atlantic 10 Conference will attempt to knock off the eighth-ranked Georgetown Hoyas of the Big East Conference when the two meet in Washington, D.C. this afternoon. Fordham improved to 6-5 overall with a 72-60 victory over Binghamton on Friday, the third victory in the last four outings for the squad. The Rams have faced one other Big East opponent so far this season, as they lost to Syracuse in an 80-63 final back on November 16th. As for Georgetown, it opened the season with eight consecutive victories before losing to Memphis on the road. Fortunately, the Hoyas were able to get back on track with a 78-51 romp over American on Saturday. They are now a perfect 6-0 at home and clearly favored today. Still, Fordham holds a 27-22 series edge over Georgetown despite wins in four of the last five meetings by the Hoyas.

Fordham is led at the offensive end by a trio of double-digit scorers. Bryant Dunston leads the pack, as the center is scoring 14.5 ppg to go along with 7.6 rpg and 31 blocked shots. Marcus Stout is close behind with his 13.8 ppg, and Brenton Butler rounds out the group with 12.5 ppg. The Rams are netting 69.1 ppg collectively while permitting 65.5 ppg to the opposition. In the victory over Binghamton on Friday, Fordham connected on 54.2 percent of its field goal attempts, and the club finished with 17 assists against only nine turnovers. The Rams outscored their opponent by five points at the foul line, helping them overcome a 31-25 rebounding deficit.

Roy Hibbert and DaJuan Summers are tied for the Georgetown scoring lead, as both are netting 12.2 ppg. Hibbert, the team's center, is pulling down 6.4 rpg to go along with 21 blocks, and while he has the size to control a game, the big man has yet to establish himself as a dominant force. Georgetown is scoring 74.2 ppg this season on 52.2 percent shooting from the field, and that average would be even better if not for the club's 58.7 percent shooting at the foul line. Defensively, the Hoyas are one of the nation's elite groups, as they are holding opponents to 55.2 ppg on 36.1 percent efficiency from the field. In the lopsided win over American, Summers scored 16 points to lead a balanced offensive attack. Georgetown shot 60.4 percent from the floor and played tremendous defense once again.

Hibbert is a bit overrated, as he is simply a steady, unselfish big man who is not special in any aspect of the game. Still, this group of Hoyas is collectively strong and will add another win to their record today.
