NBA Game Summary - New Orleans at New York

Final Score: New Orleans 100 - New York 88

New York, NY (Sports Network) - Chris Paul had 27 points, eight assists and three steals as New Orleans finished the game with 10 unanswered points to down the New York Knicks, 100-88, at Madison Square Garden.

David West totaled 19 points and eight boards while Tyson Chandler dropped in 15 points and collected 18 rebounds for the Hornets, who have won three of four. New Orleans now trails idle San Antonio by 1 1/2 games in the Southwest Division.

Morris Peterson donated 11 points, including a three in the closing moments to finish the surge.

Jamal Crawford paced his team with 20 points and six assists and Eddy Curry scored 19 for New York, which has dropped three in a row and five of seven. This was the start of a difficult four-game homestand for the Knicks. They'll also host Cleveland, Detroit and Portland.

Nate Robinson netted 17 in a losing effort.

"For the most part we played a hell of a game. We competed, played hard...For the most part we did a good job tonight," Robinson said.

The Hornets entered the fourth quarter up 75-73, and increased the lead to eight with about eight minutes remaining on a three-pointer by Jannero Pargo from the wing.

New York responded with a 7-2 run, capped by Wilson Chandler's jumper that cut the deficit to one with 6:33 remaining.

Peja Stojakovic countered with a triple, however, putting the Hornets' advantage at 88-84. After the Knicks twice cut the lead to two down the stretch, Paul hit a layup and then hooked up with Tyson Chandler for an emphatic alley-oop slam on the next possession to make it 94-88 with 1:07 left.

That was the start of a 10-0 New Orleans run to end the game. Paul had five of those points and added two assists.

"That's when the cream is going to rise -- late in the ballgame," Chandler said.

A tight contest throughout, the teams entered the half deadlocked at 49-49 and New Orleans led by a pair after three quarters of play.
