NBA Game Summary - Portland at Golden State

Final Score: Portland 104 - Golden State 110

Oakland, CA (Sports Network) - Stephen Jackson scored 29 points and grabbed nine rebounds, and the Golden State Warriors held off the Portland Trail Blazers, 110-104.

Monta Ellis had 22 points, 10 rebounds, and six assists for the Warriors, who have won three straight and four of five. Baron Davis scored 18 points for Golden State.

Brandon Roy had 26 points for the Blazers, who have dropped four of six. Travis Outlaw scored 17 points and LaMarcus Aldridge finished with 15 points and seven rebounds for Portland.

A three-point play by Jarrett Jack tied the game at 93-93 with 7:08 left, but Davis sank a three-pointer and dropped in a finger roll to put the Warriors up 98-93. The Blazers cut back to within three points, 105-102, after a Roy layup, but Jackson nailed a three from the corner to put the Warriors up 108-102 with 1:32 remaining.

"He amazes me," said Warriors head coach Don Nelson of Jackson. "I tell you, he just loves to play."

Portland had two chances to trim the six-point deficit, but Roy and Outlaw both couldn't finish drives to the net, and the Blazers didn't score again until an Aldridge putback with 12.5 seconds left. Mickael Pietrus slammed home a dunk at the other end with 5.9 seconds to play, though, salting away the win.

"I think we played them tough tonight," said Roy. "Down the stretch it is tough because you have Baron Davis isolated on our big men and you have to pick your poison whether to give him a two or a three. They make their threes and it is really tough to defend a team when they are capable of going with a small lineup."

Jackson sank a three-pointer late in the first quarter that gave Golden State a six-point lead, and a three-point play by Ellis with 36 seconds left gave the Warriors a 29-22 advantage heading into the second quarter.

The Warriors led 54-49 at the intermission.

Golden State led 78-70 late in the third quarter, but Portland closed with an 11-3 run to tie the game up heading into the fourth. Outlaw sank a jumper and made one-of-two free throws in the final minute, and the teams were knotted at 81-81 with 12 minutes left in regulation.
