Cleveland, OH (Sports Network) - LeBron James scored 37 points as the Cleveland Cavaliers beat the Chicago Bulls, 95-86, at Quicken Loans Arena.
Wally Szczerbiak added 17 points for the Cavaliers, who have won two straight,
Larry Hughes scored 23 points and Tyrus Thomas pitched in with 12 points for the Bulls, who have lost four of five. Drew Gooden, Joakim Noah and Ben Gordon added 11 points apiece for Chicago, which shot just 39.2 percent.
This was the first meeting between the teams since they were both involved in a blockbuster three-team trade. On February 21st, Cleveland acquired forward/center Ben Wallace and forward Joe Smith from the Chicago Bulls, as well as swingman Szczerbiak and guard Delonte West from the Seattle SuperSonics.
Chicago received guards Hughes and Shannon Brown, plus forwards Gooden and Cedric Simmons from the Cavaliers, while Seattle picked up former Cavs Ira Newble and Donyell Marshall as well as forward Adrian Griffin and a 2009 second-round draft pick from the Bulls.
"It still feels like home," said Gooden referring to Cleveland. "I feel like I have adjusted in Chicago, but we (when playing for Cavs) have great fans and all I want to let them know is that I played my heart out while I was here."
With the score knotted at 83, James took over scoring six straight points. His finger roll with 3:10 remaining broke the tie. On Cleveland's next possession James threw down a thunderous dunk with 2:29 to go that brought the home crowd to its feet.
After extending the Cavs lead to six with a jumper, James assisted a Szczerbiak three-pointer that pushed the lead to 92-83 with 1:28 left.
Cleveland finished the contest with a 12-3 surge.
"I just live for the fourth quarter," said James. "When the games are close, those competitive games, that's when I like to do work. We were just able to take the life out of them. The dunk got the crowd into it."
Chicago closed the third quarter with a 10-0 run. Gordon's jumper with two seconds left in the frame gave the Bulls a 68-65 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
The momentum carried into the fourth as Hughes' jumper with 9:56 left gave the Bulls a 76-68 lead.
Cleveland, though, fought back and cut its deficit to 79-77 with 6:24 showing on the clock.
The Cavs led 24-17 after the opening 12 minutes and 42-39 at the half.
