NBA Game Summary - LA Lakers at Portland

Final Score: LA Lakers 111 - Portland 119

Portland, OR (Sports Network) - LaMarcus Aldridge scored 22 points, as the Portland Trail Blazers halted the Los Angeles Lakers 10-game winning streak with a 119-111 triumph at the Rose Garden.

Brandon Roy, who missed the last two games with a sprained right ankle, had 20 points and dished out 12 assists for the Trail Blazers, who have won two straight. Jarrett Jack and Travis Outlaw chipped in 21 and 18 points, respectively, off the bench.

"I thought this was our most efficient game in a long time," Trail Blazers coach Nate McMillan said. "We started off kind of slow defensively but picked it up in the second quarter and through out the rest of the game. Our ball movement was terrific -- 29 assists with only six turnovers is a great ratio."

Kobe Bryant poured in a game-high 33 points for the Lakers, who lost for the first time since 98-95 setback at Atlanta on February 6. Lamar Odom had 17 points and 12 rebounds, while Pau Gasol donated 15 and nine boards in the loss.

"They certainly played a good fourth quarter," Lakers coach Phil Jackson said. "We matched them most of the game. A couple little things turned the game around. They changed the momentum. They did a fine job against us defensively. They deserve to win. You know you are going to lose (the winning streak would inevitably end), but you hope to not have a slippage of fundamentals, or things like that."

Early in the fourth quarter, Portland's lead reached six, 96-90, after Jack converted 1-of-2 from the foul line. Sasha Vujacic drained a three to tie the score at 100 and, later in the frame, knocked down another trey to tie the score at 107 with 3:05 to go.

Roy then made a pair of free throws to ignite 10-0 run that sealed the win.

Los Angeles led by 10, 15-5, early on, but Portland cut the deficit to one, 17-16, after Steve Blake stroked a three. The Lakers held a 32-27 lead at the end of a high-scoring first quarter.

Both clubs continued to shoot the lights out in the second frame. Luke Walton's hook shot made it 43-37 a little over three minutes into the quarter, and LA maintained the lead until Blake knocked down another trey to put the Trail Blazers ahead, 60-57, with 2:30 to play. Portland carried a 64-59 advantage into halftime.

Portland shot 55.3 percent (26-of-47), including 54.5 percent (6-of-11) from beyond the arc, in the opening 24 minutes, while LA made 51.1 percent (23- of-45) of its shots.

The Lakers opened the third quarter on 10-3 run, culminated by a pair of free throws from Gasol, and the teams traded baskets throughout the stanza. Bryant drained a wide-open three in the dying seconds to put the Lakers ahead 87-86.
