NBA Game Summary - LA Clippers at Denver

Final Score: LA Clippers 104 - Denver 110

Denver, CO (Sports Network) - Allen Iverson scored 38 points and had six assists, and keyed the Denver Nuggets' eight-point run to end a 110-104 win over the Los Angeles Clippers.

Carmelo Anthony finished with 30 points, 14 rebounds, and six assists for Denver, which has won two in a row. Marcus Camby pulled down 17 boards to go with 12 points and six blocks, while Kenyon Martin chipped in 13 points for the Nuggets, who got just 10 points off the bench.

Al Thornton, on the other hand, came off the bench to tie a career-high 33 points, and grabbed 12 boards for the Clippers, who have lost four in a row. Corey Maggette scored 28, while Brevin Knight finished with nine points and 12 assists.

"The young kid had a hell of a game," Denver coach George Karl said.

Los Angeles center Chris Kaman, who leads the team in rebounds and is its second-leading scorer, sat out with lower back inflammation. Tim Thomas played in his stead and scored 12 points.

Down by six with under four minutes remaining, the Clippers went on an eight- point run to take the lead. Thornton made a pair of free throws after Camby was called for a flagrant foul, and Knight followed that with a free throw of his own.

Maggette drained a three, and following a foul on Martin, made two free throws with 2:17 left to push the Clippers in front, 104-102. During the run, Denver missed one shot and two free throws, committed three fouls, and turned the ball over twice.

But Iverson made up for the sloppy play by draining back-to-back jumpers with under two minutes left -- the latter put the Nuggets in front 106-104 with 1:23 left.

Off a Maggette miss, Anthony grabbed the rebound, and later scored a layup on the ensuing trip downcourt. That basket gave Denver a four-point edge with 43 ticks left, and after Cuttino Mobley missed a three for LA, Camby came down with the rebound to effectively seal the game.

"They had two All-Stars that finished the game off," Clippers coach Mike Dunleavy said. "They killed us on the boards."

Denver made three consecutive shots in the first quarter -- a Camby jumper, Iverson layup, and Anthony dunk -- to take a 20-13 lead just past the midway point. It propelled the Nuggets to a 31-22 edge after one quarter, though the Clippers trimmed Denver's lead to 61-57 at halftime.

The Nuggets extended their lead to 88-80 after three quarters, and led by double digits when a Camby layup pushed his team's advantage to 92-82 shortly into the fourth. But LA used a 9-2 run to get back in the game, which stayed close down the stretch.
