Washington, DC (Sports Network) - Mehmet Okur scored 27 points and pulled down 11 rebounds to lead the Utah Jazz past the Washington Wizards, 96-87, at the Verizon Center.
Andrei Kirilenko netted 16 points for the Jazz, who have won a season-high seven games in a row and 11 of 12 overall. Ronnie Brewer tallied 12 points, while Matt Harpring had 10.
Antawn Jamison scored a game-high 31 points, including an 11-of-13 performance from the foul line, and grabbed eight boards for the Wizards, who have lost two in a row. Andray Blatche contributed 19 points and 13 rebounds, and Antonio Daniels totaled 18 points. Brendan Haywood had 10 points and nine rebounds.
Caron Butler missed his third straight game with a hip flexor.
After Darius Songaila's layup made it 74-71 with 7 1/2 minutes left, the Jazz responded with seven straight points. Harpring scored the first five and Deron Williams finished it off with a jumper. The surge gave the Jazz a 10-point cushion with 5:32 on the clock.
After that point, the Jazz never saw their lead fall below eight points and led by as many as 13.
Williams finished with 11 points and 12 assists.
The Wizards outscored the Jazz 21-11 in the first quarter. The 11 points scored is the lowest total Utah has amassed in a quarter this season.
Utah came back and pulled within one point, 39-38, before heading into its locker room.
The teams went back and forth for the better part of the third stanza, until a Kirilenko three-ball gave Utah a 59-56 lead with just over five minutes left in the third quarter.
After exchanging buckets for the next few minutes, Harpring's reverse layup gave the Jazz a 67-66 advantage heading into the final 12 minutes of play.
Williams hit a trey, and followed it up with a jump shot, to give the Jazz a 72-68 lead with just under 10 1/2 minutes to play.
