NBA Game Summary - Phoenix at Chicago

Final Score: Phoenix 88 - Chicago 77

Chicago, IL (Sports Network) - Shawn Marion had 15 points, 11 rebounds and six steals as the Phoenix Suns beat the Chicago Bulls 88-77 at the United Center.

Amare Stoudemire scored 24 points and Steve Nash finished with 14 points and seven assists for the Suns, who have won six of seven. Leandro Barbosa added 13 points, including eight in a crucial stretch during the fourth quarter for Phoenix, which was without Grant Hill.

The oft-injured veteran forward sat out with back spasms.

Kirk Hinrich scored 31 points for Chicago, which has lost three of four. Tyrus Thomas had 10 points and 11 rebounds for the shorthanded Bulls.

Chicago guard Ben Gordon sat out his third straight contest with a sprained right wrist, while forward Luol Deng is sidelined indefinitely with recurring tendinitis in his left Achilles.

"When you lose two of your top offensive players it becomes a challenge to find some consistency," said Chicago coach Jim Boylan. "You ask your other guys to step up but it's not easy. It is a competitive league and the guys you are playing against are damn good."

With the score 70-66 in favor of Phoenix with 9:40 remaining, Barbosa helped put the Bulls away. His driving layup followed by back-to-back threes sparked a 12-0 run, giving the Suns an 82-66 lead with 6:25 to go.

Chicago never threatened down the stretch.

"Leandro Barbosa hit a couple of outside shots for us, that's what got us going," said Phoenix coach Mike D'Antoni. "They are also missing 40 to 50 points from their game with Gordon and Deng out. We have so many ways to score with our bench that we can call on someone different every night."

The Bulls struggled early making just one of their first 14 shots from the field, leading to an 8-2 deficit midway through the frame. The Suns led 20-15 after the first quarter.

Phoenix held a 46-42 lead at the half after an evenly played second quarter.

Thabo Sefolosha's driving layup with 6:30 left in the third quarter gave Chicago a 59-57 edge but Phoenix responded with an 8-0 run. Marion's two free throws with 3:01 left in the third put Phoenix ahead 65-59.

The Suns led 68-64 heading into the final quarter.
