NBA Game Summary - Minnesota at Golden State

Final Score: Minnesota 109 - Golden State 108

Oakland, CA (Sports Network) - Ryan Gomes had a career-high 35 points and hit two free throws in the closing seconds to put his team up for good, as Minnesota edged Golden State, 109-108, at ORACLE Arena.

Gomes added 11 rebounds while Al Jefferson posted 21 points and 12 boards for Minnesota, which snapped a five-game losing streak and won on the road for just the second time all season. The only other road victory came on November 26 at New Orleans.

"We need any win we can get," Gomes said. "It feels good to get one on the road but we're not looking at how many road wins and how many home wins we've got. We're just looking at the total number of wins on the left side of the column."

Monta Ellis led his club with 28 points and Matt Barnes scored 20 for the Warriors, who had won five of six coming in.

Golden State went into the fourth trailing by five, and was down 100-93 with just over five minutes left following four straight points from Jefferson. A pair of Stephen Jackson threes moments later propelled the Warriors right back into the game, though, and Golden State tied it at 103-103 on Ellis' putback layup with 3:09 remaining.

The game remained tight down the stretch. Baron Davis stepped to the line with 1:08 on the clock and the teams once again tied, but made just one of two free throws to make it 108-107 Golden State. Gomes earned a trip to the stripe on the other end and sank both to give the lead back to the Timberwolves.

Golden State had multiple chances to recapture the edge, including two point- blank looks in the waning seconds. Davis failed to convert his layup attempt, however, and Harrington's putback came up shy as time ran out.

"I can't believe I missed that layup, what else do you want me to say? I thought that layup was good but when I looked up, the ball was out," Davis said. "At the end, I saw the ball hit the rim again but that was disappointing. We didn't have that fire that we usually have, and that's why we lost."

The Warriors trailed by 10 after 12 minutes of play, but outscored Minnesota 29-16 in the second stanza to take a 52-49 lead into the locker room.

The key stretch was a 10-0 run, capped by a Jackson three, that trimmed the lead from 11 to 1. Golden State then finished the quarter with an 8-2 spurt to forge ahead.

Minnesota, though, put up 36 points in the third quarter to reclaim the lead. Rashad McCants put his team up 76-75 with a three-pointer with 3:28 to play, and Sebastian Telfair and Marko Jaric followed with a lay-up each to increase the advantage to five.

After three quarters, the Timberwolves led 85-80.
