Phoenix, AZ (Sports Network) - Amare Stoudemire scored 23 points and pulled down 11 rebounds, and Steve Nash was nearly perfect, as the Phoenix Suns ran past the Timberwolves, 115-95, sending Minnesota to its 15th straight road loss.
Nash, who ended with 17 points and 13 assists, made all six of his field goal attempts and all four of his foul shots. Raja Bell added 20 points and Leandro Barbosa scored 19 for Phoenix, which has won two straight and five of seven to maintain the best record in the Western Conference.
"We just tried to keep our intensity, especially defensively we wanted to make sure we bring the pain," Stoudemire said. "That's what we have to do, we have to match other guys' intensity and their physicality. They come out and play hard and physical against us, and we have to match that with them and keep it going."
Al Jefferson had 27 points and 14 rebounds to lead the Timberwolves, who have lost four in a row to fall to 5-33. They are also 1-19 on the road, with that lone win coming Nov. 26 versus New Orleans.
Rashad McCants tallied 19 points and Craig Smith had 16 for the Timberwolves, who went 2-of-11 from three-point range and missed 10 of their 25 foul shots.
One of Minnesota's five wins this season came against the Suns on Dec. 8, but Phoenix took control with a strong second quarter.
"Our whole game plan was to stop their lay-ups and hopefully they get hot early and like the last game we won, the second half they kind of cooled off, but in this case, they hit shots all night," McCants said. "With a team like that, you've just kind of got to pick your poison with Nash, Stoudemire and then you've got Shawn Marion hitting threes and Raja Bell caught fire. So, it was kind of a lose-lose situation."
The Timberwolves scored the final five points of the first for a 32-28 edge and held a 43-41 edge midway through the second following a McCants jumper. However, the Suns came back with the next 13 points in lightning-quick fashion. Shawn Marion hit two threes and Barbosa nailed a shot from beyond the arc, while Stoudemire threw down a pair of dunks.
When the run was over, the Suns led 54-43 with 3:08 left in the half and they went into the break with a 63-49 cushion after a three from Boris Diaw.
Marion's three boosted the lead to 80-60, marking the start of a 9-0 spurt. It was 91-72 going into the fourth, and the Suns rested their regulars for most of the final period.
