NBA Game Summary - Charlotte at New Orleans

Final Score: Charlotte 84 - New Orleans 112

New Orleans, LA (Sports Network) - David West scored 28 points to pace the sharp-shooting Hornets to their fourth straight victory, a 112-84 thrashing of the Charlotte Bobcats.

Peja Stojakovic added 17 points, while Chris Paul chipped in 14 points and 13 assists for New Orleans, which has won seven of its last eight contests. Tyson Chandler had 13 points and 10 rebounds in the victory.

"We pretty much did everything we talked about from a defensive standpoint and I thought that was the key to winning the basketball game," Hornets coach Byron Scott said. "We came out on the defensive end of the court and played real good solid defense."

West went 13-of-18 and Paul 7-of-11, all part of a 60.3 percent night from the field for the Hornets.

Emeka Okafor posted 13 points and seven boards for the Bobcats, who had a two- game win streak broken. Gerald Wallace and Jason Richardson each had 12 points for Charlotte, which fell to 2-13 on the road.

The big move for the Hornets came in the second quarter when they outscored Charlotte 33-15 to take a 59-40 lead at the half. Okafor's bank shot had Charlotte within 36-33 with 6:26 left, but the Hornets rattled off the next seven points. Chandler's reverse layup and subsequent three-point play started the flurry, and it ended on a Ryan Bowen tip-in.

The Hornets then used a 12-3 run to end the half, with West's putback slam highlighting the spurt.

Stojakovic's three-pointer extended the margin to 68-44 less than four minutes into the third and New Orleans boosted its lead to 90-62 going into the fourth.

A Bowen jam extended the lead to 31 at 108-77 with 2:34 left.
