San Antonio, TX (Sports Network) - Manu Ginobili went without a field goal until midway through the fourth quarter, then hit four clutch three-pointers in the final five minutes on his way to 20 points as the San Antonio Spurs held off the Philadelphia 76ers, 89-82, at the AT&T Center.
Tim Duncan racked up a double-double, collecting 18 points and 16 rebounds and Tony Parker and Michael Finley each put up 14 points for the Spurs, who have won their last two.
Willie Green had a game-high 21 points and Samuel Dalembert scored 12 and hauled in 20 rebounds for the second straight game as the 76ers dropped their seventh consecutive game. Philadelphia has yet to taste victory since the calendar turned to 2008.
The Spurs trailed with 4:10 remaining in the game before Ginobili caught fire to hold off a spirited Philadelphia team that had stifled the Spurs' offense to that point in the second half.
With the entire team struggling from three-point range, Ginobili gave the Spurs the spark they needed to overcome the Sixers. The Argentinian scored 14 of his 20 points in the last five minutes to almost single-handedly put the game away.
His final three stretched the Spurs' lead to 89-80 with 1:46 to go. A pair of Andre Iguodala free throws brought Philadelphia within seven, but they did not get any closer.
Trailing, 52-46, at halftime, the 76ers locked down defensively in the third quarter, holding San Antonio to just 12 points during the period and taking a 65-64 lead heading into the final stanza.
Iguodala hit a pair of free throws to give Philadelphia the lead for the first time since late in the first quarter with a 59-58 advantage with 7:32 left in the third quarter.
The 76ers extended that lead to as many as five points in the fourth quarter before the defending NBA champions began to methodically chip away. Tim Duncan tied the game at 73 with a turnaround jumper, but Philadelphia fought back to a 77-75 lead after a jumper by Miller. Ginobili, who had been all but anonymous to that point, finally went to work
Philadelphia played much of the first half without point guard Andre Miller, who was hampered by a right eye contusion. The Spurs used a balanced offensive attack to take control, as a Francisco Elson tip-in with 1:33 left in the first quarter gave San Antonio the lead and the first quarter ended with the Spurs on top, 27-24.
