Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - Andres Nocioni scored 26 points and grabbed seven rebounds, and the Chicago Bulls overcame a miserable first- quarter performance to beat Philadelphia, 100-97, at the Wachovia Center.
Joe Smith added 19 points and six boards for the Bulls, who have won two of three. Ben Gordon chipped in with 15 points off the bench, as Chicago's reserves combined for 32 points in the contest.
"They (the Sixers) came into Chicago earlier this year and took it to us so we just wanted to get off on this road trip on the right note," said Smith. "Whether it was me or whoever got it going on as a group."
Andre Iguodala had a team-high 25 points for Philadelphia, but that paled in comparison to the 21 points and 20 rebounds by Samuel Dalembert. Andre Miller also scored 20 for the Sixers, who lost a season-high six straight.
"Sam was good," said Sixers head coach Maurice Cheeks. "He was good all night. He got in a little foul trouble and we had to take him out of the game, but Sam's been playing like that. I'm sure he'd trade it for a win, but the way he's been playing has been good and thankfully for us, he has those numbers, but we'd like to have a win."
The Sixers looked to put the game out of reach early on, holding a 7-5 lead before reeling off 18 of the next 20 points. Miller poured in 10 during the spurt, capping it with a free throw to give Philadelphia a 25-7 advantage.
The Bulls answered with a 7-0 run, but a Louis Williams jumper at the other end gave the Sixers a 27-14 cushion heading to the second quarter.
The home squad couldn't sustain the momentum though, as turnovers led to a Bulls' resurgence in which they outscored Philadelphia 31-13 over the next 12 minutes.
Chicago opened on a 13-4 run, pulling within four on a Chris Duhon driving layup at 6:36. Dalembert answered with a fade away jumper, and off a Smith miss for the Bulls, also added a putback off the glass to give the Sixers a 35-27 edge. The Bulls, however, answered emphatically with an 18-5 run the rest of the way and led 45-40 at the half.
The visitors continued to pull away in the third, opening a double-digit margin, 58-48, on a Smith floating jumper. The Sixers continued their cold streak, meanwhile, missing 10 shots in a 3:39 stretch.
Philadelphia went into the fourth quarter down 70-58, and never posed a serious threat until there was a little more than a minute left in the contest. An Iguodala dunk suddenly made it a four-point game, 94-90, with 1:04 remaining, but Nocioni plowed through the lane and put one in off the glass with the shot clock winding down.
Philadelphia couldn't recover from there, as the Bulls won out at the line.
