NBA Game Summary - Denver at Phoenix

Final Score: Denver 115 - Phoenix 137

Phoenix, AZ (Sports Network) - Shawn Marion scored 21 of his 27 points in the first half and his hot hand from beyond the arc led the Phoenix Suns over the Denver Nuggets, 137-115, at U.S. Airways Center.

Marion, who also had 14 rebounds and six blocks, hit 5-of-9 three-pointers and Marcus Banks, successful on 7-of-8 three-pointers, scored 23 points, as the Suns hit a blistering 20-of-31 shots from long distance for the game. Phoenix shot an impressive 50-of-93 for 53.8 percent all together, adding a nearly perfect 17-of-18 shooting from the free throw line.

Grant Hill added 20 points and Amare Stoudemire had 20 points and 10 rebounds for the Suns, who got back on track after having a four-game win streak halted against New Orleans on Saturday.

Steve Nash ended with 13 points and 10 assists and Leandro Barbosa tallied 12 points for Phoenix, which saw all nine of its regulars score and just two of those players -- Stoudemire and Boris Diaw -- not hit a three-pointer in the game.

Allen Iverson scored 32 points to lead the Nuggets, who had a three-game win streak halted. Carmelo Anthony added 20 points and 14 boards for Denver, which lost for just the second time in eight games.

Phoenix began to build a lead in the first quarter, using a 23-7 run to take a 29-13 lead. Marion scored seven points during the run, capping it with a jumper at the 5:41 mark.

Barbosa hit a layup with 1:42 left and Nash drained a three-pointer 20 seconds later to increase the Suns' lead to 44-26 and Phoenix went into the second with a 46-34 cushion.

In the second, Marion led the way during an 11-2 run that turned a 59-45 lead into a 70-47 cushion. Marion scored all 11 points, hitting three treys during the run.

Brian Skinner even got in on the three-point action, hitting from beyond the arc at the buzzer for the half, sending the Suns into the locker room with a 78-59 advantage. It was just his second three-pointer of the season.

Phoenix shot 11-of-15 from three in the first half, led by Marion's 5-of-7 shooting from beyond the arc. He had 21 points in the first half, as did Iverson, who scored 17 of his points in the opening quarter.

The Nuggets made up some ground in the third quarter. After falling behind 99-79 following a pair of free throws by Skinner with 3:01 left in the quarter, Denver scored 11 of the next 13 points to draw within 11 points.

Marcus Camby's three-point play with 25 seconds left capped the run, but Stoudemire hit a jumper and Barbosa ended the stanza with a three at the buzzer, sending the Suns into the fourth with a 106-90 cushion.

Denver never threatened in the final 12 minutes and Phoenix beat Denver for the 10th time in 12 meetings. Phoenix has also won six straight at home against the Nuggets.
