San Antonio, TX (Sports Network) - Bruce Bowen hit two key free throws down the stretch and led a balanced scoring attack with 15 points, as the San Antonio Spurs held off the New York Knicks. 97-93, at AT&T Center.

Michael Finley and Matt Bonner each added 14 points and Tim Duncan had 12 points and nine boards for the Spurs, who have won four of their last six games. Tony parker ended with 12 points for San Antonio, which has won five straight against the Knicks.

Eddy Curry ended with 25 points and 12 boards and Jamal Crawford had 24 points and six assists for the Knicks, who have dropped six in a row. Stephon Marbury had 16 points and Nate Robinson tallied 14 for New York, which has not beaten the Spurs since March 21, 2005.

The Knicks trailed for most of the game, but had a number of chances down the stretch to take the lead.

Trailing 90-89 with the ball, New York had its first opportunity to go ahead. However, Marbury's cross-court pass was intercepted by Parker, who was then fouled by Marbury. Parker hit 1-of-2 from the line and Finley added a three- pointer with 1:43 left to increase the Spurs lead to 94-89.

New York, though refused to go away. After Robinson hit a pair from the line with 1 1/2 minutes left. He hit a jumper with 50 ticks remaining to draw the Knicks within 94-93.

Finley then made a bad pass to Duncan and the Knicks came away with the ball, with yet another chance to go ahead. But this time it was Crawford who lost possession of the ball going up for a jumper over Bowen with 20 seconds left.

Bowen answered by hitting two from the line with 10.5 seconds left to make it a 96-93 contest.

After a timeout, the Knicks inbounded the ball to Crawford, who drove the lane in an attempt to hit a runner and draw a foul. However, he came up empty on both counts and Bowen hit 1-of-2 from the line with two-tenths of a second left to ice the game.

"We have to play harder and smarter," said Knicks head coach Isiah Thomas. "Particularly, to beat the world champs in their building, you need to play with great intelligence. I thought we played with great effort, but our intelligence needs to catch up to our effort right now."

New York played without starting forward Zach Randolph, who was suspended one game by the league for throwing his headband at an official in Wednesday's 107-97 loss to the Sacramento Kings.

San Antonio was also shorthanded, playing its fifth game without Manu Ginobili, who has a sprained left index finger.

The Spurs led 27-24 after one quarter and carried a 51-44 edge into halftime. New York cut the deficit to 76-71 going into the fourth.

"We played really hard for 48 minutes, I thought New York did a great job," said Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich. "They were very energetic in trying to get something done. Going against the Spurs would be a really good win for them and they showed that they wanted it. I thought we hung tough and matched their energy and ended up getting the win."
