Orlando, FL (Sports Network) - Yao Ming scored 26 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, as the Houston Rockets benefited from an officials' call at the buzzer to beat the Orlando Magic, 96-94, at Amway Arena.

Rafer Alston broke a tie and put the Rockets up two, on a layup with 4.3 seconds left. On the ensuing inbound, Rashard Lewis drove to the right of the hoop and tossed a shot over Houston defenders.

The shot missed, but Adonal Foyle tipped it in with his left hand. It appeared to count, leaving Foyle's fingertips before the final tenth ticked off the clock. Upon review, however, the referees said it didn't count, giving Houston the win. Officials refused to comment after the game.

"No, I didn't see the replay," Foyle said. "But I thought it was good because as I tapped it, and I was coming down, I saw the light through the basket and I thought I had a good chance of getting it in. The official call is the final call."

Said Alston: "I thought we were going to overtime. We were sitting down getting ready to face overtime. It was close. It is a tough call to get at home. It just looked good. It was borderline, but it just looked good."

Alston finished with 20 points and eight assists, and Bonzi Wells had 12 points and 12 boards for Houston, which snapped a two-game losing streak.

Jameer Nelson scored 20 points off the bench to lead Orlando, which has lost two in a row. Dwight Howard scored 16 points, but only collected eight rebounds before fouling out, breaking his string of 15 consecutive double- doubles.

The Rockets were up 11 with under five minutes to play, but the Magic went on an 8-0 run to storm back in the game. Nelson capped it with a three with 2:46 left to bring the Magic within 91-88.

After Yao made a layup more than a minute later, Nelson drained another three from the top of the arc to trim Houston's lead to 93-91 with 1:09 left. On the other end, Howard fouled Yao -- his sixth of the game -- on a turnaround jumper.

But the Rockets' center made just 1-of-2 free throws with under a minute left, keeping it a one possession game. Lewis badly missed a three with 42 ticks left, and Yao grabbed the rebound. However, Houston couldn't close out the win, as Wells botched a pass, and Foyle got the steal.

Orlando orchestrated another chance to tie, and this time Lewis drained a three from the left corner to tie the game at 94, with 19.9 seconds remaining. But the Rockets answered, as Alston held the ball outside the three-point arc before simply driving into the lane and sinking a layup for the deciding score.

"This is a tough night in the NBA," Orlando head coach Stan Van Gundy said. "It's the way it goes sometimes. I think it's unfortunate we gave up a layup on that last possession."

Said Rockets head coach Rick Adelman: "We've lost a few games like that this year, so it was good to get one. I couldn't tell, it was way close at the end, obviously. It would have been nice to finish it when we had the lead, but you have to give them credit. They kept knocking down shots and we made some mistakes defensively.

Houston held a 32-25 lead after one quarter, but the Magic stayed close, and drew within 51-49 at halftime. The Rockets led 76-72 heading into the fourth quarter, but used a 9-0 run in the middle of the final stanza to go up 85-75.
