NBA Game Summary - Denver at Minnesota

Final Score: Denver 118 - Minnesota 107

Minneapolis, MN (Sports Network) - Allen Iverson scored 33 points and Carmelo Anthony poured in 26 as the Denver Nuggets beat the sliding Minnesota Timberwolves, 118-107, at the Target Center.

Anthony Carter finished with 16 points and 11 assists for Denver, which has won five of six. Marcus Camby had 12 rebounds and seven blocked shots to go with eight points. Linas Kleiza scored 17 off the bench.

Rashad McCants scored a career-high 34 points -- off the bench, in a little under 32 minutes -- for Minnesota, which nonetheless lost its seventh straight. Al Jefferson finished with 24 points and 15 rebounds for the T'Wolves, whose current slide is their longest of the season.

"Tonight they showed what they can do," Minnesota forward Ryan Gomes said. "They beat a good team last night, San Antonio (80-77), and they bounced back and got a win in here against us."

Antoine Walker hit a three with 1:43 left in the game, bringing Minnesota within 110-104. But directly after that, Iverson darted into the lane and made a layup, starting an 8-3 Denver run to end the game.

The Nuggets made 4-of-6 free throws in the final 1:30, and Anthony capped the game's scoring with a dunk with 37 seconds left. Meanwhile, the 'Wolves just got a three from McCants.

"We understand we were playing an NBA team, but didn't take them for granted or anything like that," Iverson said. "We were sure they were going to come out and play hard, especially in front of their home crowd. We definitely didn't think they were going to lay down for us."

Denver opened the game with a 12-0 run that Carter both began and ended with a jumper, but Minnesota clawed back in the game -- a theme in Friday's contest -- and was down only 30-25 after one quarter.

The Nuggets slowly drew out their lead in the second, and went on a 7-0 run with time running down. Anthony capped the surge with a jumper just 3:52 before intermission, putting Denver up 52-38.

The Nuggets led 61-52 at halftime, but couldn't pull away after the break, as Minnesota stayed close. McCants hit a jumper with 1:36 left in the third to bring the 'Wolves within 83-80, but Iverson scored four straight points to end the stanza, and give Denver an 87-80 edge.

Minnesota didn't fall behind too drastically, but with 5:25 left in the game, Kleiza converted a three-point play. It gave the Nuggets a 104-91 lead, too big a cushion for the 'Wolves to cut down and overcome.
