(Sports Network) - The playoff-hungry Atlanta Hawks will open a three-game road trip tonight against the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden.
The Hawks will also visit Washington and New Jersey, and own a 7-25 mark away from Philips Arena this season. The have lost six straight on the road.
Atlanta ended a two-game slide with a 117-93 home victory over the Los Angeles Clippers on Friday, as Joe Johnson scored 28 points and buried 7-of-8 three- point shots to pull the Hawks within a half game of New Jersey for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.
Josh Smith added 25 points and eight rebounds for the Hawks, who got 14 points and 14 assists from Mike Bibby. Josh Childress also had 14 points in Atlanta's second win over the last eight contests.
New York, meanwhile, is back at home on Sunday and sports a 12-21 mark at historic MSG this season. The Knicks ended a seven-game losing streak with a 91-88 win over Miami on Wednesday at AmericanAirlines Arena.
Jamal Crawford scored 23 points and Zach Randolph finished with 19 points and 12 rebounds for the Knicks, who were victorious for the first time since a 113-89 triumph over Charlotte on February 27.
The Knicks will try to stop a four-game slide as the host tonight.
Sunday's game between Atlanta and New York is the second of four matchups this season. The Hawks posted a 99-93 win in the first meeting on February 29 at Philips Arena, as Al Horford finished with 20 points and 11 rebounds.
New York has won two of three and three of its last five against the Hawks, who have lost three straight and 13 of their last 14 trips to the Big Apple.
