(Sports Network) - The best and worst of the Southeast Division will go head- to-head tonight as the lowly Miami Heat resumes a homestand with a visit from the first-place Magic.
Miami enters this Sunshine State showdown mired in a six-game losing streak and is a horrid 3-33 since December 25. The Heat's most recent defeat came on Wednesday, a 91-88 setback to the New York Knicks at American Airlines Arena.
Ricky Davis topped Miami with 27 points and Shawn Marion recorded a double- double in the loss, finishing with 15 points and a game-high 17 rebounds.
Prior to Wednesday's game, the Heat announced that star guard Dwyane Wade would sit out the remainder of the season due a lingering knee problem. Miami also played the contest without guard Marcus Banks (hamstring) and forwards Udonis Haslem (sprained ankle) and Earl Barron (knee).
Haslem and Barron are considered questionable to play tonight, while Banks will miss a third straight game.
The Heat will also be without head coach Pat Riley for this evening's tilt. Riley temporarily left the team on Thursday to do some scouting at this weekend's college basketball tournaments, as Miami is the favorite to receive the No. 1 overall pick in this summer's draft.
Miami will also be attempting to stop a string of eight consecutive losses to Orlando. The Magic have won all three meetings between these teams this season and are 4-0 in their last four trips to American Airlines Arena.
In Orlando's lone 2007-08 visit to Miami, the Magic came through with a 121-114 overtime decision on December 28.
Orlando owns a comfortable nine-game advantage on second-place Washington in the Southeast standings and has won eight of its last 10 contests. The Magic were last in action on Wednesday and cruised to a 110-88 home victory over the Los Angeles Clippers behind 22 points and 13 rebounds from Dwight Howard.
Rashard Lewis finished with 19 points and nine boards and Hedo Turkoglu scored 17 points for Orlando, which shot 51.9 percent from the floor.
The Magic come in having won five of their last seven on the road and are 22-12 as the visitor this season.
