(Sports Network) - The Portland Trail Blazers shoot for a rare road winning streak when they continue a cross-country swing with tonight's matchup against the New York Knicks from Madison Square Garden.
Portland got this crucial five-game trek off to a good start with Friday's 103-101 edging of Milwaukee. LaMarcus Aldridge poured in 29 points for the Trail Blazers and hit the game-winning jumper with 2.4 seconds left to play.
Aldridge ended 14-of-20 from the floor to help Portland halt a two-game slide, while Brandon Roy amassed 20 points and 10 assists on the evening. Steve Blake added 21 points for the Blazers.
The win was only Portland's second in its last 10 road games and improved the club to 10-21 as the visitor this season. The Trail Blazers will also take on Cleveland, Minnesota and Sacramento during the trip.
The Knicks will be concluding an awful four-game homestand in which the team has dropped the first three tests, including Friday's 101-97 setback to Detroit. The loss was New York's fifth in a row overall.
Eddy Curry had 23 points for the Knicks and Jamal Crawford tallied 17 in defeat. David Lee, starting in place of an injured Zach Randolph, ended with 12 points and 15 rebounds.
Randolph, an ex-Blazer who was traded from Portland to New York during the offseason, has sat out the Knicks' last four games with a bruised right foot and will not play again tonight.
The Knicks and Blazers had an overtime thriller at the Rose Garden back on February 1, with Portland coming through with a 94-88 victory. Roy recorded his first career triple-double in the game, as the second-year standout racked up 20 points, 11 assists and 10 rebounds.
The teams have split their annual home-and-home series in each of the previous four campaigns, but the Blazers had dropped three in a row at Madison Square Garden prior to last season's 92-86 win there.
