(Sports Network) - Two clubs at opposite ends of the NBA spectrum will go head-to-head tonight at Memphis' FedEx Forum, where the cellar-dwelling Grizzlies host the team with the league's best record, the Boston Celtics.
Boston has already sewn up a postseason berth in the Eastern Conference and is riding a seven-game winning streak that was extended with Friday's 116-93 home victory over Chicago.
On the other side, the Grizzlies have the NBA's third-worst record at 15-46 but do enter tonight's tilt on a rare high note, as the team came through with a 100-93 victory over New Jersey Wednesday at FedEx Forum.
Hakim Warrick scored a season-high 25 points and pulled down seven rebounds to help the Grizzlies snap a string of nine straight losses, while Mike Miller delivered 22 points and six boards in his return to the Memphis lineup. The sharp-shooting swingman had missed seven consecutive games with a back injury.
Darko Milicic added 16 points and 11 rebounds for Memphis, one night after he tied a career best with 21 points in a loss at Chicago.
Following this evening's contest, the Grizzlies will embark on a three-game road trip beginning Tuesday in Phoenix. Memphis owns an 11-21 home record this year.
The Celtics completed a perfect five-game homestand with last night's decision over the Bulls, fueled by a 22-point effort from Paul Pierce. Rajon Rondo added 16 points for Boston and Kendrick Perkins recorded 14 points along with 11 rebounds.
Kevin Garnett finished with 16 points in Friday's win and now needs just seven more to reach 20,000 for his career. He is seeking to become the 32nd player in NBA history to achieve that milestone.
Veteran guard Sam Cassell, signed by the Celtics earlier in the week, joined his new team on Friday but did not dress for the game. The 38-year-old is expected to make his debut in a Boston uniform tonight, however.
Boston will be aiming for its first home-and-home season sweep of Memphis since 2002-03. The Celtics downed the Grizzlies by a 100-96 count in Beantown on January 4.
The Celtics have also emerged victorious in four of their last six visits to Memphis.
