(Sports Network) - Two teams battling for playoff positioning in the Western Conference meet tonight, as the Phoenix Suns welcome the Northwest Division- leading Utah Jazz to US Airways Center.
This is the third and final meeting of the regular season between the clubs. The teams split the first two contests.
The Jazz have won five of the last seven matchups in the series, but Utah has lost four of its last six at Phoenix.
The Suns try to get back on the winning track as they open a five-game homestand tonight. On Wednesday, Allen Iverson and Carmelo Anthony combined for 61 points, 18 rebounds and 13 assists as the Denver Nuggets defeated Phoenix, 126-113, at the Pepsi Center.
Amare Stoudemire scored 22 points and grabbed six rebounds for the Suns, who have dropped three of their last four games overall. Boris Diaw ended with 17 points and six assists, while Leandro Barbosa added 15 points off the bench in defeat.
Shaquille O'Neal finished with 12 points and a season-high 18 rebounds for the Suns, who are just 3-5 with Shaq in the lineup.
Phoenix is 21-9 at home this season. The Suns will also host San Antonio, Memphis, Golden State and Sacramento on the current homestand.
Utah tries to extend its winning streak to four games this evening. On Wednesday, Deron Williams scored 21 points and dished out 11 assists and the Jazz extended the NBA's best home win streak to 17 games with a 105-76 thumping of the Minnesota Timberwolves at EnergySolutions Arena.
Carlos Boozer finished with 16 points and a game-high 14 rebounds for Utah, while Mehmet Okur scored 15 points and pulled down nine rebounds to help the Jazz win for the eighth time in their last 11 overall games.
The Jazz are 13-19 on the road this season. They return home to host Northwest Division-rival Denver Saturday at EnergySolutions Arena.
