(Sports Network) - The Los Angeles Clippers will open a season-long seven-game road trip tonight, when they pay a visit to the Minnesota Timberwolves at the Target Center.
The Clippers will take on Minnesota, Cleveland, New York, Boston, Toronto, Philadelphia and Milwaukee on the lengthy trek. They have dropped seven in a row as the guest and are 5-13 away from LA this season.
Los Angeles ended a three-game losing streak with a 95-88 win over the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday at the Staples Center. Al Thornton scored a career-high 33 points, while Sam Cassell and Tim Thomas each scored 14 points in the win.
Cuttino Mobley and Quinton Ross netted 12 points apiece for Los Angeles, which was without starters Chris Kaman and Corey Maggette. Kaman is nursing a bruised right shin and flu-like symptoms, while Maggette is also suffering from flu-like symptoms. Both are questionable for Friday's game.
Minnesota will resume a five-game homestand tonight and is 7-14 as the host in 2007-08. It opened the homestand with an 83-67 victory over the Chicago Bulls in the finale of a home-and-home set, as Al Jefferson scored 26 points and pulled down 20 rebounds to lead the way.
Ryan Gomes poured in 25 points and grabbed 10 boards for the Timberwolves, who split the home-and-home series with the Bulls. Sebastian Telfair had 10 assists in the victory, one night after Chicago posted a 96-85 triumph.
The Timberwolves will also welcome Houston, Boston and Toronto on the current homestand. On the injury front for the Timberwolves, guard Rashad McCants (flu) is questionable for Friday's game against the Clippers.
Friday's game is the second of four matchups this season between the Clippers and Timberwolves. Los Angeles recorded a 91-82 win on December 31 at the Staples Center and has won four of the last six in the series.
The Clippers have also won two of their last three trips to Minnesota.
