(Sports Network) - The streaking Utah Jazz attempt to extend their winning streak to five games when they welcome the defending world champion San Antonio Spurs tonight to EnergySolutions Arena.
This is the second meeting of the campaign between the clubs. On December 7th, Manu Ginobili scored 37 points to lead the Spurs over Utah, 104-98, at the AT&T Center.
The Spurs have won two in a row in the series. San Antonio has lost two straight after winning its last two at Utah.
Utah has won eight in a row at home. On Sunday, Kyle Korver scored 17 points in 23 minutes off the bench -- sinking 3-of-5 three-pointers -- and the Jazz downed the Houston Rockets, 97-89, at the Toyota Center.
Deron Williams finished with 17 points and 12 assists, while Andrei Kirilenko also scored 17 points for the Jazz, who have won four straight and eight of their last nine games overall. Carlos Boozer scored 13 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in the victory.
The Jazz are an impressive 18-3 at home this season. They will host the New York Knicks on Wednesday at EnergySolutions Arena.
Utah's last home loss was on December 29, 2007 against the Boston Celtics.
The Spurs will try to get back on the winning track, as they open a season- long nine game road trip. David West scored 32 points and tore down seven rebounds, keying a fourth-quarter onslaught as the New Orleans Hornets cruised past San Antonio down the stretch for their eighth straight win, 102-78, on Saturday at the AT&T Center.
Tony Parker and Tim Duncan had 17 points apiece for San Antonio, which saw a three-game win streak come to a screeching halt. Ginobili scored 11 points, though he was limited to just four field goals on 12 attempts, and Fabricio Oberto netted 10 for the Spurs, who were outscored 30-14 in the final stanza.
San Antonio, which has won two in a row as the visitor, is 8-9 on the road this season. The Spurs will also visit Seattle, Phoenix, Indiana, Washington, New York, Boston, Toronto and Cleveland on the current swing.
