Minnesota Timberwolves (7-34) at Boston Celtics (33-7), 7:30 p.m.

(Sports Network) - Kevin Garnett will take on his former employer this evening, when he leads the Boston Celtics against the Minnesota Timberwolves in the finale of a two-game homestand at TD Banknorth Garden.

The Celtics acquired the services of Garnett through a blockbuster trade last summer. Garnett, a former MVP and 10-time All-Star, averaged 20.5 points, 11.4 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 1.7 blocks over 12 years with Minnesota. He has been the main reason for Boston's resurgence, as the club owns an NBA-best 33-7 record this season. Minnesota is a league-worst 7-34 in 2007-08.

Boston has hit a snag, however, and will wrap up a two-game homestand against the Timberwolves. It had a three-game winning streak come to an end with Wednesday's 114-112 loss to the Toronto Raptors, as Garnett had 26 points, seven rebounds and five assists to lead the way. Ray Allen and Paul Pierce had 19 points apiece for the Celtics, who fell to 18-4 as the host this season.

In injury news for the Atlantic Division-leading Celtics, forward James Posey is questionable for Friday's game against Minnesota with a sprained right index finger.

Minnesota has won a season-high two straight games and will hit the road where it is just 2-20 this season.

The Timberwolves posted their second win in a row with Wednesday's 117-107 victory over the Phoenix Suns at the Target Center. Al Jefferson scored a career-high 39 points and pulled down 15 rebounds to lead Minnesota. Marko Jaric chipped in 15 points, 10 assists and eight boards for the T'Wolves, while Ryan Gomes added 14 points and nine rebounds.

On the injury front for Minnesota, center Michael Doleac (flu) is questionable for Friday's game.

Minnesota and Boston are meeting for the first time this season tonight. The Celtics will pay a visit to the Target Center on February 8. The Timberwolves and Celtics split a pair of meetings last year, while Boston has won seven of 11 and eight of the last 13 matchups.

Minnesota has won six of nine and seven of its last 11 trips to Beantown.
