(Sports Network) - The Atlanta Hawks will continue a five-game homestand when they take on the Washington Wizards tonight at Philips Arena.
Atlanta ended a four-game slide with a 90-81 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday. Joe Johnson scored 29 points, grabbed seven rebounds and dished out five assists to lead the way.
Josh Smith added 19 points for the Hawks, who won for the first time in the new year (1-3) and improved to 1-1 on the current stand. Josh Childress and Marvin Williams chipped in 12 points apiece, while Al Horford finished with 10 points and 15 boards.
The Hawks, who are 11-7 at home this season, will also host Chicago and Denver on the homestand. In injury news for Atlanta, center Zaza Pachulia is questionable for Friday's game versus Washington with an ingrown toenail.
Washington had its two-game winning streak stopped after Tuesday's 92-84 setback to the Houston Rockets in the finale of a short two-game homestand at the Verizon Center.
Antawn Jamison had 14 points and eight rebounds for Washington, which has dropped six of its last 10 games. Brendan Haywood and Nick Young each had 13 points in the loss. The Wizards will now try to improve on their 7-8 road record tonight in Atlanta.
The 2007-08 season series between Washington and Atlanta is tied at a game apiece. The Wizards have won four of six, 12 of 15 and 13 of the last 18 matchups in the series.
Washington has won two in a row at Philips Arena.
