Boston Celtics (29-4) at New Jersey Nets (18-17), 7:30 p.m.

(Sports Network) - The Boston Celtics will try to avoid losing consecutive games for the first time this season when they open a short two-game road trip tonight against the New Jersey Nets at the Izod Center.

Boston had its nine-game winning streak stopped and lost for just the fourth time this season after Wednesday's 95-83 home loss to the Charlotte Bobcats. Kevin Garnett finished with 24 points and eight rebounds to lead the Celtics, while Paul Pierce added 13 points and eight rebounds in defeat.

The Celtics have won nine in a row on the road and are 13-2 away from TD Banknorth Garden this season. On the injury front for Boston, guard Ray Allen (neck) and forward Glen Davis (knee) are probable for Friday's game. Allen did not play in the loss to the Bobcats.

Boston will also visit the Washington Wizards on the trek.

New Jersey will resume a four-game homestand on Friday and is 9-11 at the Izod Center this season.

In Wednesday's 99-88 victory over the Seattle SuperSonics in the opener of the stand, Richard Jefferson scored a game-high 28 points, dished out six assists and pulled down five boards to lead the way.

Jason Kidd finished with 16 points and 11 assists for the Nets, who have won six of their last seven games. Kidd fell five rebounds shy of his fourth consecutive triple-double. Vince Carter tallied 18 points and eight rebounds in a winning effort.

The Nets will also host Portland and New York on the current homestand.

Boston is 2-0 against the Nets so far this season and has won three straight and four of the last five encounters.

The Celtics have also won three in a row at the Meadowlands.
