(Sports Network) - The New Jersey Nets aim for their fourth straight win tonight, when they take on the Charlotte Bobcats at the Izod Center.
New Jersey posted its third straight win and fifth in six tries with Wednesday's 96-95 triumph over the Orlando Magic at Amway Arena. Vince Carter had a team-best 18 points and buried the deciding free throws in the closing seconds, as the Nets overcame a 13-point hole in the fourth quarter.
Richard Jefferson had 14 points and Jason Kidd contributed 10 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists. Kidd passed the 9,000-career assist mark with the effort while surpassing Magic Johnson for fourth all-time on the rebound list among NBA guards.
The Nets are back home where they own a 7-11 record this season.
Charlotte has dropped five of six and 15 of its last 20 games, including Wednesday's 109-97 loss to the Chicago Bulls in the finale of a short two-game homestand at Bobcats Arena.
Jason Richardson scored a game-high 28 points for Charlotte, which will try to work on its abysmal 1-10 road record this season. Gerald Wallace posted 23 points, 11 boards and eight assists in the loss at Chicago.
The Bobcats have lost 10 in a row away from home this season after their only road win against Miami on November 4.
Friday's contest between Charlotte and New Jersey is the first of four meetings this season. The Nets went 2-1 against the Bobcats in 2006-07 and have won four of five and nine of the 11 all-time meetings.
Charlotte has lost three of the five meetings at the Meadowlands.
