Denver, CO (Sports Network) - Joe Koshansky's third career homer, a solo shot in the fourth inning, was the lone run in Colorado's 1-0 win over the San Diego Padres in the rubber-match of a three-game set.

Livan Hernandez (2-3) tossed five shutout innings, allowing just three hits with two strikeout and two walks to pick up the win for Colorado, which has won three of four.

"To both lefties and righties, he kept them off balance, he kept the ball down, and he changed speeds," said Rockies catcher Chris Ianetta of the veteran Hernandez. "Any time he can do that, he's going to be extremely successful."

Brian Fuentes tossed a perfect ninth for his 28th save.

Josh Geer (2-1) gave up five hits and one run in five frames with five strikeouts and three walks to take his first career loss for San Diego. The last-place Padres, who have lost seven of nine, left eight runners on base.

Koshansky, who went 2-for-4 on the day, took a 3-2 pitch out just left of dead center field with the bases empty and two outs in the fourth. The homer was his third of the season and of his career, and ultimately held up for the win.

"I just got it up a little bit, and he flipped it over the center field wall," said Geer of the pitch.

Just three days after the first 0-0 game at the end of nine innings -- a 10- inning, 1-0 Colorado win over the Los Angeles Dodgers -- in the 14-year history of Coors Field, the Rockies won another 1-0 game in the thin air. It was the seventh 1-0 game in Coors Field history.

The Padres only managed five singles. They had two men on with two outs in the fourth, but Nick Hundley flied out to center. San Diego had two men reach with one out in the seventh, but Will Venable and Edgar Gonzalez both grounded out to end the frame.

Manny Corpas and Fuentes then retired the next six in row to lock down the win.
