National League Game Summary - Los Angeles at Pittsburgh

Final Score: Los Angeles 8 - Pittsburgh 15

Pittsburgh, PA (Sports Network) - Adam LaRoche homered twice and drove in five runs, while Ryan Doumit also homered and added four runs batted in as Pittsburgh downed Los Angeles, 15-8, in the third test of a four-game set at PNC Park.

LaRoche had a grand slam and a solo shot and Doumit highlighted an eight-run seventh inning with a two-run blast for the Pirates, who lost the first two games in the series.

"It was great. This club showed what it is capable off," Doumit said. "Tonight was fun. Obviously Adam (LaRoche) carried us. His two home runs were huge."

Zach Duke started on the hill and was touched for five runs on 11 hits in five-plus innings. John Grabow (6-3) earned the win despite allowing a run in his one inning of relief.

Russell Martin was 3-for-5 and drove in three runs for the Dodgers, who saw their lead over Arizona in the NL West shrink to 3 1/2 games. The Diamondbacks edged San Francisco, 7-6, on Wednesday.

Chad Billingsley surrendered seven runs -- six earned -- on eight hits in 4 2/3 innings but received a no-decision. Scott Elbert (0-1) imploded in the seventh, giving four runs without recording an out to take the loss.

"I was missing out over the plate a lot," Billingsley said. "I feel fine. I just have to get ready for my next start."

With the game deadlocked at seven, the Pirates put things away with an eight- run, two-out rally in the seventh. After Scott Proctor got the first two outs in the frame, LA manager Joe Torre made the mistake of calling on Elbert, who promptly walked Nate McLouth and then served up a homer to Doumit, his 14th on the season. LaRoche followed with a single and Brandon Moss doubled to right before Torre finally pulled the plug on Elbert.

But, Andy LaRoche greeted Jason Johnson with a two-run single, pinch-hitter Doug Mientkiewicz followed with an RBI triple and Jason Michaels, another pinch-hitter, slapped an RBI single up the middle to give Pittsburgh a 13-7 advantage.

The nightmare continued for the Dodgers after Ramon Troncoso entered the game. Nyjer Morgan blooped a double just in front of Manny Ramirez in left before Freddy Sanchez chopped a grounder to first. James Loney made a nifty stop but threw the ball past Troncoso, who was covering first, enabling two more runs to cross the plate.

An RBI grounder by the Dodgers' Angel Berroa in the ninth accounted for the final margin.

The Pirates jumped on top with a run in the first when Morgan led off with a double and eventually came around on Doumit's two-out RBI single.

Pittsburgh added another run in the third when Sanchez reached on a Casey Blake error, advanced to second on McLouth's ground ball and scored when Doumit slapped a run-scoring single to right.

The Dodgers finally got to Duke in a big way during the fourth, scoring four runs. Ramirez started things with a single to right and crossed the plate on Nomar Garciaparra's one-out double to right-center. Matt Kemp followed with an infield single before Pablo Ozuna plated Garciaparra with a base hit to right. Berroa then chopped into a fielder's choice and Billingsley worked a walk to load the bases. Martin finally capped the frame with a two-run double to left that made it a 4-2 game.

The Pirates got one run back in the fourth when Adam LaRoche led off by blasting his 21st homer of the year over the wall in right-center.

Pittsburgh see-sawed back in front during the fifth thanks to the grand slam. After Duke and Morgan both fanned to start in the inning, the Pirates loaded the bases on consecutive singles by Sanchez and McLouth along with a walk to Doumit, LaRoche then stepped to the plate and deposited a Billingsley offering over the wall in center for his third career grand slam.

The Dodgers made it a one-run game with a pair of runs in the sixth. Berroa led off with a single and Pittsburgh pulled Duke for T.J. Beam. Pinch-hitter Delwyn Young greeted the reliever with a double to right-center and Martin followed with a run-scoring single up the middle. Sean Burnett came in at that point and gave up a sacrifice fly to Andre Ethier before wiggling out of any further damage.

Los Angeles deadlocked things in the seventh when Ozuna reached on an error and Berroa ripped an RBI double to right-center.
